|
|
Anybody have any connections on places to stay or any recommendations? Needs to at least be in walking distance of the trolleys because we will not have a car. We are taking the train down there.
My wife and I and another couple will be going at the end of July.
Also what are some things we should do and places we should go while we are down there.
Thanks |

| We stayed at the Hampton French Quarter last time we were there. It was right across Canal from a Bourbon, so it was convenient but still quiet. Harrahs and the Marriott down on the river are also in good locations and reasonable. |

Stay at the royal sonesta, chateau du pue, or the montelone.
Eat at Galatoires for a nice meal. Eat at acme for char grilled oysters. Eat at deanies for amazing fried seafood. Felix's for raw oysters. These are all in the quarter. Check out the aquarium, the d day museum, and the insectarium. Audibon zoo is cool, and Harrahs is fun if you like to gamble. Cafe du monde is a must for beignets and cafe au latte. Just walk around back and don't wait in line. Just grab a table when it come open. The line is stupid, as there is no hostess cane the servers don't seat you because the don't even work at the restaurant, but just show up and serve food for tips. |

| Bourbon Orleans. Best ambiance, decent pricing and a fabulous <SAFE> location. Get a courtyard room for the peace and quiet at night or a balcony if you want to be able to watch the action. Best place in the French Quarter. A little walk to the streetcars but it is so picturesque. |

I've stayed at Monteleone. Very nice.
During that trip, my father stayed at Royal Sonesta. It was also very nice, but I'd give the nod to the Monteleone.
And define "walking distance". I mean, hell, my wife and I staggered back from the Superdome to Bourbon st one night, and it wasn't really far at all. _________________

| We stayed at the Marriot on canal whenever i went there. Nice hotel, close to pretty much everything. We never unparked the car after arriving. |

I prefer the Le Pavillon, I think trolleys are a few blocks away. _________________

When we went there, we stayed at the Prince Conti. We were there around the same time (I think the first week of August) and we got it off priceline for a great price.
Awesome location, we parked the car and didn't touch it again. _________________ Impossible is not a a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.
