I have no idea what I am doing but I bought a lower at the gun show this weekend. It was a spikes lower and that is really the only choice I had.

last night I ordered:

ADAMS UPPER 556NATO 14.5"PB MID MOE
MAG TACT LPK TEF COATED W/HOGUE GRIP
Some bullets to shoot
Some magpul 30rnd mags
GMG 6-POS STK KIT W/SPRNG,BUFFER,NUT

I still need some type of reddot.

Anyone a pro at gun building?

If you can afford it, the eotechs are the best sights imo

Enjoy.

http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_124/628482___Primary_Arms_2_5X_Compact_AR15_Scope_with_CQB_ACSS_Reticle.html

On my watch list as the price is not insane.

I have access to eotech, trijicon and a number of other companies. I will take a look at those.

Scopes are the hardest to pick out for an AR platform. How far do you want to shoot?

Since you bought the upper complete all the rest of it is pretty basic assembly. Unlike a 1911 or other builds ARs tend to be closer to plug and play with parts just fitting right out of the box.

Santa brought me a Bushmaster M4, but I don't know much about them either. I'm planning on going with the Nikon P223 3X32 scope for $149. It is specifically made for the AR's and it's not too expensive. It's easy to spend a grand on glass, but I have heard good things about the Nikon, and in this case I think "it's not the wand, it's the wizard" applies. Unless you have extensive training and experience, a decent scope is going to be better than you are.

flixmaster, I didn't see prices from rsrgroup but would be interesting in:

RSR Item #: DRDLW16SS556MIDL

and

RSR Item #: LBMILBUFKT

if the price is right.

Hmm... I just found a heavy fluted stainless barrel for ~$150 so I'm going that direction. But I have 2 more AR15 lowers and 3 AR10 lowers to build so I'll keep that site in mind.

Very nice. Have you seen the double barreled AR15 is going into production?

Not really, it fires two shots with one trigger pull. I still don't understand the point, even if it has dual triggers. One well placed round should do the job IMO. This isn't call of duty spray & pray.

Isn't that twice as many shots? Wink

I don't really get it either, other than it looks kinda cool.

Total shots to me would be the amount of times you pull the trigger. 1 shot could be 1 bullet or two.

Shot so steel at 200 meters with my buddy's AR w/ an Aimpoint Pro. Pretty nice set up, little spendy but the smaller MOA dot helps.

Therers always the Primary Arms clone, which I have. My only gripe is the battery life sucks compared to Aimpoint. I'll be putting a micro on the next couple of rifles.
