Looks like the Federal Appeals court made the correct decision on this one and preserved the 2nd Amendment rights for you Cali folks.
| Quote: | SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A divided federal appeals court has struck down California's concealed weapons rules, saying they violate the Second Amendment right to bear arms.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Thursday that California is wrong to require applicants to show good cause to receive a permit to carry a concealed weapon. The court ruled that all law-abiding citizens are entitled to carry concealed weapons outside the home for self-defense purposes.
The divided three-judge panel disagreed with two other federal appeals courts that have upheld permit rules similar to California's.
The U.S. Supreme Court often takes cases when federal appeals courts issue conflicting rulings.
The Supreme Court ruled in 2008 that law-abiding citizens can keep handguns in the home for self-defense purposes, but didn't address whether that right extends outside the home. |

Okie Boarder, this was never really an issue anyway. Plenty of ways to get CC, it's just a pain in the ass. Still will be following this ruling.
FWIW: I'm standing 30 feet from someone who just did it, and he didn't have a "good cause" other than personal protection. _________________

I see.
I haven't really dug deep into CC in Cali, but have a general knowledge. What is the typical process? _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

Find a Sheriff/PD to sponsor it, apply, wait, receive anal probe, receive lobotomy, trade away your first born, get training, gain permit. WORTH IT! _________________

Sounds like a walk in the park.
What is the required training? _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

Dang, I thought our process was tough. All we have to do is upsize to a 10 piece bucket of extra crispy and they give you a CHL at the window. _________________ TONA

Seems about the same as far as training, as it is here. I noticed CA doesn't honor other states' licenses. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

Actually, it is an issue. It depends on what county you are in, In Alameda for example it is almost impossible to get an ltc. The sheriffs in certain county's are abusing this power, if this stands it will force sheriffs to not use "good cause" but I suspect they will find other ways to deny my rights. _________________ http://www.integrity-wake.com

| RUSSIAN, that was my understanding as well. Anytime you make it a subjective rule there are going to be issues and corruption will come into play |

When I lived in Santa Barbara County it was also next to impossible. I no longer live there, but am curious if this ruling will change things quickly.
I think things are a long way off for NYC though. |

I'm going to disagree, in several counties only having a restraining order, knowing the sheriff personally, ect... counted as "good cause." This ruling and several like it throughout the state including one in Sacramento County have made it possible that "self-defense" is good cause. Still a county by county fight but this decision may make that cause uniform.
Still it's a tedious process that can take 7-12 months IF you can get an interview. That backlog is also 7-12 months. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

California does not extend reciprocity for most licenses. Nurses, Lawyers, ect... _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

I think we actually agreed, not disagreed.
My point was that it is very possible in CA, just a huge PITA to get done. _________________

chavez, in many counties it is not possible, which is why this lawsuit was brought and several others in counties that had a policy of not issuing unless you were politically connected or already a victim of a crime. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

Seems like such a pain to go through. Yet another item I can add to the list of reasons why I'm glad we moved away. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |
