Did y'all watch last night? Thoughts?

I kind of liked the Imagine Dragons song mix; Willie Nelson and crew was a little strange...especially Chris Kristofferson; Daft Punk and Stevie Wonder was interesting, but it didn't seem like Stevie was all there; Metallica was pretty good...a little different with the piano mixed in; the wedding deal was kind of strange....seemed like it was forced.

All in all, pretty good show. It seems like it is becoming more and more of a showcase, rather than an awards show.

pretty pumped that gary clark jr won a grammy. not only is he an austin boy, but my friend carlos sosa is his sax player.

taking shots out of the award:

all in all, austin scored 3 grammys

Clark wasn’t the only Austinite to take home some hardware – “gold sippy cups,” as Best Rap/Sung Collaboration winner Jay-Z called them – last night. Texas master craftsman Guy Clark, profiled in Nashville last summer, won Best Folk Album (his first Grammy), and Sisters Shauna and Sarah Dodds won Best Recording Package for their work on Reckless Kelly’s Long Night Moon.

jryoung, LOL!

jt09, very cool. A friend of ours had a win in her circle, also. Her BF's band won in the Best Tropical Latin Album category.

What was with Pharell's hats? Weirdddddd! I liked Miranda singing with Billy Joe and Pink was impressive.

Oh yeah, forgot about Pink...that was cool. We have an old friend that does a lot of the pole dancing, acrobatics and aerial stuff.

The Grammy's just re-enforced that the majority of today's music is crap. Look at the performers:

Daft Punk - from the '90's
Metallica - from the '80's
The Highway Men (sorta) - from the ???
Trent Reznor - from the 90's
Even Billy Joe started in the 90's with Green Day.
Paul McCartny & Ringo

There was hardly anyone new, outside of Lorde and the little country chick that won performing.

Metallica was terrible. That was a terrible idea. Paul McCartny's song was probably good for Beetles fans, but I did not care for it. Daft Punk was awesome with Stevie and Pharell.

Overall I thought the show was weak.
