For those of you that travel frequently, Hertz #1 Gold Club is the way to go. Got into Jacksonville Saturday night and went to get my Dodge piece of crap something or another that was $20 a day and what was in my marked spot but a fairly new Infiniti g37x. I don't think I've ended up with the exact vehicle I've booked ever and always end up with some sort of upgraded vehicle. Plus you get to bypass all the lines, look for your name on the board, and head straight to your vehicle.

In other news the G37 is a blast to drive. [/quote]

brew, we love ours... except for the MPG. Having a blast will net you somewhere between jack and squat for fuel economy. Laughing

The last time I rented I asked for a premium and somehow ended up with a decked out Suburban. Fine for the open road, but in downtown Chicago? Yeah, thanks but no thanks! Laughing

My bro used to work for Avis and he learned the "trick" - you book the cheapest POS they offer, and when you get there, ask them for an upgrade, even offer to pay a little for it. His last two rentals were booked as Aveos, he rolled out with an X5 and an X3 for $10 more a day.

This one had about 13,000 miles on it and showed a lifetime fuel economy of 20.4. My new truck has 7,500 miles and shows 17, so I think it's probably been run a little bit. I will say they are quite small inside. Our A5 feels like it has just as much room with two less doors.

4 days out the door for right at $100. It's hard to beat that on a car rental.

brew, we get about 18 around town, and 29. It is nice though - the mpg meter doesn't really give a crap if I do 65 or 85, which is the opposite of the TDi (which cares greatly about lower mph).
