How does the average American afford to have babies?

my wife's OB is awesome. she lets you run your plan until it is no longer safe for the mom or baby. Want an epi? great! Don't want one? no problem. Only real rule she had was that my wife had to have an IV as soon as we were in a room. She didn't want any time wasted with an IV if something went wrong.

25k is nothing when it comes to kids..I felt like I paid 25k in diapers and formula in the first month.

Having been involved in many C Sections My advise:

If you're young & healthy, been follow by your OB or CNM from day 1 with prenatal care - have that discussion how & where you want to deliver your child.

If you have not had any prenatal care and have not been followed with due diligence on the growth & progress of your fetus - There should be no discussion about where to have your baby - it needs to be in a hospital be it vaginal delivery or c-section.

A lot of the OB/GYNs out here hire their own CNM as well as the hospitals.

You can only say that now becuase you didn't have any complications.

No, not really, but thanks for the concern. It was weighed heavily at the time.

Then again your wife probably doesn't have many patients who induced themselves with castor oil.
