LMAO!

The one thing I did not really anticipate, the amount of time and energy switching everything over. Addresses, insurance etc etc.

MY GAWD I'm annoyed.

8824, the good news... is that once you get all your initial stuff done, future encounters (license renewals, reg renewals) will be done online and are fairly easy. I just renewed my DL and the time between my renewal going in online and my new DL in the mail was less than 5 days. Same for reg renewals.

Also - if you are a AAA member, they have branches where you can process some DMV business in branch. Gotta check their site to see what they can and cannot do. I tell ya what - their annual fee is well worth it even if it only saves me 1 trip to the actual DMV.

Yup....that's what I thought when I still live in Cali, too. Here in OK, all those processes are simple and quick. We have tag agencies that handle licenses, tags (reg), etc. all over the place.

If it gets bad around here we go to a more rural DMV, but I've been super lucky with mine. Often 1-2 hour lines but I've never waited more than 15 minutes or so.

I guess that's one good thing about living in a small town.

I have never been in the DMV for more than 15 minutes.

X2. Not to mention the 6 mile commute that takes 11 minutes.

Well fellas, there are trade offs with everything.

The fact that I live between mountains and the ocean, and the desert is also very close.

I will take my 4 hr dmv visit with a grain of salt.

8824, hell yes.

Plus that experience will probably not repeat itself. Can't tell you the last time I set foot in a DMV. Probably when I finally got my M1 - which was 7 or 8 years ago. Exclamation

Ok, I must confess, we both failed the first written test.

My first version was really hard, the second test was much easier.

Some strange questions on these written exams.

We did not know we were taking a written exam. Should have read the handbook for sure while we waited.

Did I just confess to failing a written DL exam? I must be getting old.

You had to take a test??? Shocked

That's surprising. I guess there's no reciprocity anymore.

I scanned the dmv website and was did not notice anything about a written or driving test unless your under 18.

Some of those questions were strange.

I keep cutting those final strings, only a few more until I have no mas strings attached.
