|
|
Well here is our progress:
Before, everything must have been the original...
We did the tear out ourselves as it save a good chunk of money.
The kitchen once we had everything removed.
We decided to try and clean the tile instead of replacing them as we wanted to keep the kitchen at a reasonable price.
Before:
After:
Painted everything white:
Cabinets and hardware:
Went with 3/4" full plywood boxes, cabinets on top keeping the same layout of the kitchen. Added a cubby for the fridge to give it a "built in look". Added a pantry on the range side to close in the kitchen a bit. Drawer system on the bottom with smart close hardware. The sink will be stainless with a front apron opening.
here is the granite slab we picked... still waiting on them to finish the template and cut the granite...

Looking good! You cant go wrong with 3/4" plywood construction, looks like 1/2" backs, everything dadoed together, pretty solid box. Cant wait to see it with the granite on! _________________

Question... what did you use to clean the tile grout? I need to do that to our bathrooms and our kitchen - I tried using warm water and vinegar but it doesn't work as well as I was hoping. |

If I was doing this I'd replace those outlets for new. The visible ones anyway.
Like the shaker cabinet look in white. _________________

I'll give that a shot - I've got one of those stiff grout cleaning brushes too.
PimpinD2, also meant to mention that I really like the looks of that granite. Can't wait to see what it looks like once it's done! |

Forgot to mention, looks like you're going with a farm sink? What style did ya get? Classic white ceramic with either 1 or 2 openings is the usual we put in, but we've also done copper and stone farm sinks as well.
Also have you thought about changing the back splash up with some tile or something, or keeping drywall? _________________

redoing the kitchen makes such a HUGE difference in the overall feel of the house.
We like our sink but if you're going with the one single bowl sink. Get the accessory/attachement vegtable washer thing that fits along the side. They have the drain holes in it. Do you know what I mean? If i was going to do it all over again i think i would have done the another sink in the island along one of the edges as well. _________________ Don't do anything rash.....and don't do anything to get a rash... |

I have to say this because i would hate for this to happen to you...
BE CAREFUL. This is a strong chemical ... i didnt wear a mask or gloves the first time i used it just a fan and opened the windows and it made me violently puke.
2nd time i used a respirator and gloves and all was good...
3rd time i was just doing a small patch and puked again....
Please use a mask and gloves! _________________ stay clean, like me

PimpinD2,
Looks good. I liked the front apron look of the sink, but my wife didn't really like it and she was worried that it would always have water marks on it or get scratched up. It it was my choice i would have gone with the apron...
The LED lights. if you're doing them under the cabinets, make sure you have a 1/2inch or so strip of cabinet/panel underneath the cabinets and point the lights into the wall/backsplash. DON"T point them down at the granite or you'll just get these little LED light dots reflecting in your granite. They pointed our LED lights into our backsplash and it looks really good.
Post them up when you're done _________________ Don't do anything rash.....and don't do anything to get a rash... |

They won't be under the wall mounted cabinets but under the floor ones to light up the ground. _________________ stay clean, like me
