|
|
Whew, It's finally finished. It is an '83 Ski Nautique 2001. I started this project a long time ago and am done with most of it. We had to replace the stringers and the floor. I went back with XL (thanks, Tige) and made it a four stringer system instead of just two. We painted the stringers with gelcoat and replaced the foam, we rebuilt the engine (had a cracked intake manifold, bad piston, messed up valves, bunch of small stuff), totally rewired the boat, welded the broken gas tank, repainted the stripe and painted the top as well with Dupont Imron (thanks for the advice, Masterpainter), reupholstered it, recarpeted it, built a new dash, painted the windshield, painted the vents, the steering colomn and the controls, painted the engine, installed new snaps around the boat (for the boat cover), installed a depth finder, new battery, tinted the windshield, and probably a hundred other things I can't remember.
Here are some pics. We still have to do a little color sanding and hand glaze it again.

nice job what kind of imron did you use. i was thinking about repainting our boat and do some wild stripes and stuff. i was thinking about using the teflon imron that they use on subway trains so clean up would be less work. but i like the old imron and the newer 6000 system.

fuel,
That's a nice job. Having restored a boat inside n out myself, I know what you've been through, & I hate to say it, but you'll probably have a little bit before you get all of the bugs completely worked out. That's a boat worth restoring, however, & looks like you took the time & did it right.
Are you going to put the stock graphics on?

You're probably right, gus. We put it in the water a few days ago and it cranked right up - no problems. We had to adjust the timing and the idle a little, but no biggie. All the of our wiring was good and the engine ran like a champ. We've ran it for three days and haven't had any problems. So far, so good.
I'm just glad that most of the work is done. A big shout out to my friends who helped me work on this project, Paul, James, and Hunter. I couldn't have done it without those guys. The only things that weren't done by me and my friends was the upholstery and the machine work.
We aren't going back with the stock graphics. I want to do something different (and cheaper!). Any suggestions on fonts are welcome.
I can't remember what kind of Imron we used. I'll get the can out of the shop and look.

Thanks, grant. I saw the work he did on your Bling Bling sticker. That is bad ass. If you don't mind me asking, how much did that set you back? I thought about putting the AIR logo on the side, but I'm not sure. I'm really not sure what I want to do. BTW, where was that thread where someone but a tower and an AIR logo on it?
Dave, I probably could've bought a nice old Sport Nauty for the $$$ this has set me back, but then I wouldn't have the satisifaction of knowing I've done all the work myself. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.
