hi guys, I'm from Brazil and I've been wake boarding for a while, my background is skateboarding, so I'm ALWAYS on a cable! like 90% of the time, I rare go behind a boat, but like once in a month I go behind a boat!

so I need your help, my buddy is going to Canada and he's going to bring me a set up! I'm searching for a while and I'm really confused on what board should I get! can someone please help me? At the park I take sliders and kickers, so that's pretty much it. I've been looking at Liquid Force, Hyperlite and Slingshot models, end it up with these choices:

LF - FLX, Watson Hybrid and Witness Grind
HL - Union and Clash
SS - Sherdtown, Newton and Hooke
Am I on the right track? Can you guys suggest me any?

mtaigo, Definitely on the right track. Any of those will suit cable really well and you really can't go wrong. At this point you'll want to ask yourself whether or not you want a flex board. If you do want flex, that automatically narrows your choices and takes out the Witness, Clash, and Union.

Like you, 99% of my riding is done on cable/rails/ramps. I personally ride a Watson Hybrid and love it, but I haven't ridden many other flex boards to compare it to. I also have a Witness grind and I like it but I don't think it's as fun because it doesn't flex, I keep that around for when I ride boat.

What boards have you ridden in the past? Are there any you particularly liked or didn't like? As I said, all of your choices are SOLID for cable riding, so now it's going to just come down to personal preference.

Gnarshredd, thank U so much man! I'm always hearing you guys talking about flex boards, and I really don't know any about it. :S

I'm riding a Brazilian board, Navis Grafite, It's a 141 continuous rocker.
About that rocker thing, for cable which is the best? 3 stage or continuous rocker?

I ride mostly cable as well and I'd say the FLX, Watson and Shredtown are going to be the best setup. I hate to sound like a broken record on here but it all comes down to personal preference. The FLX and Shredtown are pure flex boards, this means they are made from wood and are made to bend. This allows you to press your board on sliders. The Watson is a hybrid so it has a combo of foam and wood. So it will be a little stiffer then pure flex boards, but will still bend for presses. If your going to also use your board for boat I'd personally go with the Watson, its a really good shape for boat riding and a very solid cable board. As for 3 stage or continous, again this is personal preference. I like a 3 stage for behind the boat for the more straight up pop and at the cable for a flatter base to slide on.

The Hooke is better for the boat. SS is the way to go for cable riding, I would choose the shredtown

TY so much guys, you made it really clear for me now! yesterday i`ve tried for the first time the kicker, wasn`t good, didn`t land well, but hey, first time. --`

I`m between the LF FLX, and the SS shredtown. I`m always hearing really good things about the SS boards, like softer landings and really flex, so I`m like 70% SS and 30% LF, still going to search some reviews, cons and pros, so thank you again guys!

What you guys think about bindings? does it have any support on your style of riding?
like closed toe, stuffs like that. Which boot bindinds do you guys recommend?

Either of those boards will be great if you're looking for some good flex. They'll be super fun on rails. If I ever get a super-flexy board I'll probably get a shredtown myself, but I like my Watson for now.

Top-notch bindings now are pretty much all closed-toe (not to say you can't get a good open toe one, anything made in the last few years will be good).

Most people agree that Ronix bindings are probably the best in the market but if you want to get a full slingshot setup they make some great boots too.

I would go with the watson hybrid or the flx from the boards mentioned.

Hey mtaigo,

I've been on the LF dlx (kevin henshaw), it's hybrid meaning it works on cable & behind the boat.

It's a fantastic board with comfy 3 stage rocker, wood core with super light construction & the base is bomb proof.

It's comparable to LF watson Hybrid. I've ridden both, the dlx has a little more flex (bends a little more), the watson plains quicker on the water.

Either one would be a great choice, in my opinion. they even cost the same.

I am more of a cable rider and currently moving on to Ronix EL Von Videl Schnook!!
