I just caught wind of this particular injury this morning that really froke me out. Prior to this I'd only had brief moments of stomach-turning pain, but there was nothing like this.
Was wondering if anyone out there takes any types of precautions. See the posts I copied below. First post is from 'Hundel'. The second one was mine.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FYI - I thought this was just an adolescent wakeboarding myth until I experienced it first hand. There's a weird pendulum like effect the sack can take causing it to loft up, then spank down off the water with unbearable force. Honestly expected to see tubes hanging out - instead, just a freakish bloating - bright white and distended out the side of the scrotum like an extra couple were there on the side. Wife didn't know whether horror or nausea was the appropriate reaction. Seems to heal up fine though.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear lord mine was not that bad. I would have gone to a freakin hospital if I had seen anything like that. I don't like to take chances when it comes to my boys. Is there any preventive measures that can be taken?
Cup? No, to plasticky and could really mess things up if it got a little off-kilter and then I would fall and really mess things up seriously.
Socks or padding? No, my Tom Jones and Kenny Loggins outfit wouldn't match my board or boat.
Maybe a swimsuit with lining that would keep things nice and organized. Better yet, I'll just trade in the my curduroys (my version of board shorts ~ cost $2) and start sportin the old banana hammock (speedo swimsuit). That would be fresh. |

I wear boxer briefs to keep my jewels at bay, and if you are real concerned you can get neo-shorts for extra padding and hold.
Protect your jewels like your life depends on it. |

| I learned the hard way to wear a jockstrap (a size too small) under my board shorts. I've gotten some flack from my buddies about it, but I'm sure they'll understand once it happens to them and they're floating breathless in the water checking to see if they still have their balls. |

I had a friend last year who smacked his jewels, and from what he said, they were swollen & turned blue for a week. A good alternative is the thin softball style sliding shorts (rashgaurd material) under your boardshorts. They are tight yet breathable, and dry quick. _________________ Sattelyte Wakeskates

| Yeah I've been trying grabbed frontrolls and I always land square on my balls. I'm thinking that neoprene shorts would be so nice, coughing and trying to breathe sucks when you're in the water. Besides if we are all worried about heel bruises i think we can extend a little comfort towards our nut sac. I mean when have they ever failed us? look after your #1. |

Whoa, none of this stuff has ever happened to me. Worst is a faceplant, but the boys downstairs have been doing just fine. _________________ "I knew those girls were pros, but don't tell Turtle, it'll break his heart." - Drama, Entourage |

| LOL Phil...or is it because you (meaning the UK) don't have boys to take care of? JK, couldn't resist - you set yourself up for that one. |

To solve this problem I always just board naked.... jk.... I always wear boxer briefs under my board shorts. I didnt even know you could hurt your go-go nads wakeboarding?hmm beats the hell outta me. I hope that never happens to anyone on this board... that would suck. I usually always fall on my back and swirl around in the water.. it's quite fun. _________________ Ride the wake hard and go home wet. |

Man, I love this site. What other place can you go and find a topic like this............oh, wait a minute, there's probably a million other sites discussing this sort of thing...but atleast you won't get arrested for visting this one.
No problem with the smacking to the crew here........'course if you're too much of a wuss to try anything like myself, you won't be in any position to end up with elephantitous or anything shaded in the blue family.
I hear stuffing your shorts with Charmine pads the landing, but it gets a little soggy after a while........buy the quilted; oh, and don't squeeze it. |

Fortunately I've just smaked my balls "a little" when I did a butt-check once... It DID hurt, but I really can't imagine the pain it would be to land ON em! _________________ Now even tough I know there's NO one in here that lives anywhere near Montréal, if you ever feel like riding, just pm/e-mail/msn/whatever else me |
