what i've found to be really good for me is to wear a full suit that's thin (like 2 or 3mm all round), then an extra 2mm zip up wetsuit jacket on top. the combined thickness of the jacket and suit keeps the core of my body warm, yet it's super easy to get in and out of, and the two jackets slide on each other so i have ample movement instead of dealing with a super thick wetsuit. i actually rode thru last season doing this, and just pouring warm water onto my body before getting into the lake. much comforier and less effort than going in/out of a dry suit that seeps
