Been in Vegas since Wednesday for the Little Man's hockey tournament. Have been here 30ish times and like it less every time.
We have the Little One, so it is a different trip, but....meh, even if we didn't, I'm not sure I'd be raving.
Glad the kids have hit the ice & that is now the focus. Lost game one against the Fresno Jr Monsters, but played well. LM had some MONSTER hits. Hope to get on the winning track tonight.
Having some bourbon and a great cigar on the balcony of our condo & killing time. Could be worse ways to spend an extended weekend. |

We go every year and enjoy it. We stay in the Bellagio or Wynn and eat at the nicer restaurants and just hang out for a few days. |

Heading there Monday for a Hockey trade show. Vegas is not fun when you are married with kids. |

What happens when you already go to TC and Petoskey 5-10 times per year? I've said it on here several times, but Northern Michigan (especially the NW Lower Peninsula and the UP) is the most underrated area in the entire country in terms of natural beauty and overall ambiance. The problem is most people think Michigan is in Detroit, rather than the other way around.
On the other hand I also go to Vegas 2-4 times a year. Sometimes for business, sometimes for a quick extended weekend getaway. IMO people who don't like Vegas at all, didn't do it right. There is literally something for everyone there. You can party your face off or relax at some of the best spas in the world, dine at some of the finest restaurants or grab a $5.99 prime rib dinner, shop at the world class malls or hit up the outlets, or take in one of the many awesome shows. Want some adventure? Go on a baja chase through the desert, hit the track in an exotic supercar, or bungee jump off the stratosphere. Want nature? Head out to the valley of fire or Red Rocks. There are literally so many different ways to do Vegas that if you didn't enjoy yourself, you did it wrong. That being said I understand that many wouldn't go on a regular basis, but there is literally something for everyone there. |

I love vegas, ive probably been about a dozen times give or take. My vegas experience has drastically changed over the years though. From the first few trips of non-stop drinking/gambling and partying to enjoying more of the shows and fine dining the last few trips, with a litle gambling and drinking mixed in as well! |

Or they lived there for several years, have seen it all and done it all, and are way over it. _________________

I'll give you that, but that could also be said about almost any city. I hate Chicago, but others love to visit it. I lived in the city for several years, had a blast the first couple of years, then quickly grew to hate it. I've only been back once since I left and it was just for a weekend/wedding. However, I don't think people are crazy for wanting to go visit Chicago. |

eich82, I grew up in the SF Bay Area. I love to be in and around the city and if I could would move there in a heartbeat.
Anyhow, I agree with you. And I will be in Chicago next week. _________________

A few pics from the weekend.....
The Little Man's only point of the weekend....
Keelping things clear in front of the net....
A few cigars that I took down to Vegas....
A pic from the exact time I was making this thread.
I spent a fair share of time in the Sportsbook.... PBR and a BRC....
Easily the coolest beer pong table I have ever seen.....
My seat for game 2.... The Las Vegas Ice Arena has a bar in it(Brooksys) that you can watch the game, while you have a few drinks and some apps.
The Little One told me, "There's Stick's car." My friend, who will actually be in Vegas this coming weekend for Buffett, has this car... So I snapped this pic and ask if he came down early and drove his car up into Slots of Fun.... Note, that isn't a beer on the corner, it is my bourbon in a plastic cup.....

E.J., is that not a USA Hockey-governed tourney? Surprised he is without shoulder pads. Unless they are just small and you can't see them under his jersey. _________________

Just small.... In fact, not really small, just low profile....which I really like. Top end shoulder pads(CCM U+ Pro) as far as protection, but don't have that football shoulderpad look of some of the other higher protection pads. |

Well....that was a tough one. Had their ashes handed to them 4 straight games. Not only on the scoreboard, but physically. It got out of hand at points, not sure the refs had a handle on the games. I have never watched 4 games in a row like what I saw, standing room only in the box on numerous occasions, coaches getting run, kids getting run...not great hockey.
The skaters were fairly even, but they had some great kids in net and it showed. Feel like we outshot them by a good bit the first couple games and still were getting crushed.
LM got boarded in the first game and this was the result. I was sure that somehow a skate got in there, but it appears that his knee must have hit the ice or boards and a piece of plastic in his shinpad wedged against his knee and punctured the skin. I haven't seen the shinpad, but the coach was telling me. Crazy?
I flew down, but the boys bussed. Some of the tweets were classic. A coach, who I know well through a friend, thought the casino smelled good after coming off the bus.
The hotel was a dump, but their beer was cold. I also love that you can walk from the hotel/casino through a door and be in the ice arena....with beer in hand.
Not a great weekend won/loss wise, but I think the boys still had fun and it's a starting point. Can't get worse....

Yep....Senior year. HS team looks to be loaded with talent and has 2 very good goalies and 1 great one. That doesn't even mention the one they had all last year.
Regulators could use a 2 of the HS goalies.... Unfortunately, they are playing for other travel squads.... |
