I just rode behind a wakeboard boat for the first time, a mastercraft X 23 foot. I seen all mastercraft models were 55k+ which I think is CRAZY for a boat like that.

WHy are mombius so cheap? 30kish seems right for wakeboard boats, why is mastercraft so damn much. Anything wrong with the wakes from mobius and any other wakeboard boats in the 30-40k range nicely equipt? THanks

DO you see anything wrong with this? I wouldn't think so. Mastercraft, nauti', and malibu sponsor riders and mark up for the name thats where the price difference comes in. Moombas aren't finished off as good as the supras made in the same building so it would be up to you.

I will never understand why people take pictures of there wake. I really don't understand why other people can judge a picture of a wake.

Ps. put someone that is over 4ft. tall on that wake

Calair03 has gotten himself into the bias opinion trap. He thinks what he has is the best. You just have to giggle at him. I have ridden behind a Pro V and have to say the wakes are sissy without a !@## load of weight. We all know that wider and bigger the boat the more weight it takes to get the wake to any size. I have to say the wake was disappointing after seeing what a Wakesetter VLX, Supra Launch SSV and SANTE produce. Again this is just my opinion but I would have to say that most everyone that has seen all of these boat wakes would agree.

It is a 2001 Mobius V. in the picture we have two 550's, a 750, and 4 people. The bow isn't in the air at all. we dont even have the booster seat and you can sit back and drive with out problem. I know the kid in the picture is 12 but he is 5 feet.

Spyplane8, Sorry but I don't have the pro-v. I have the cal-air which I guess in your opinion would be easier to weigh down. I didn't say that the wake wasn't nice, actually it looks very sweet but the rooster is probably four feet tall which is caused by a boat that has it's nose pointing straight up, showing off it's keels.
Booster seats are for kids at resturants and wakeboard boats with design flaws. Maybe I just say that because my boat as well as the pro-v has minimal bowrise even when you ate just taking off weighted to the hilt. But hey, if you guys like bowrise that is cool, just don't run me over!

Calair, I know for a fact that the boat that is throwing the wake in the picture does not have its nose pointed straight up. Your way of thinking is corrrect where a boat that does have its nose pointed straight up would throw a big rooster tail like that one..(of course the wake would be washed out since the boat would never be on plane)...however, when you weigh down most tourney inboard boats, you will get a rooster tail like that anyway.

You are more than welcome to come ride behind my SSV and I will show you what a rooster tail looks like. It is a combination of how much weight I have in the boat plus the wakeplate and the hull design. Yes I will have a big rooster tail back there, but no, I will not need a booster seat to see over the bow.

Booster seats were designed for the many families that are crossing over from an I/O to a straight Inboard. Most people are used to looking over the windshield of their I/O, and they have a hard time getting acustomed to an Inboard and looking thru the windshield. I guess all of the major wakeboard boat manufacturers have design flaws since they all offer the Riser Seat.

I would never waste a trip to Fl to ride behind a SSV thats just MPO though!!! I got a chance to ride behind a 03' a few weeks ago with about 2300lbs of ballast with 5 people in the boat and the wake had no shape and was pretty tiny!!! The overall layout of the boat was nice and I really liked the the fit and finish of the boat. The wake needs helps though.

Funkster, you can put 2300lbs of weight in any boat out there and get a pretty sorry wake. It has a lot to do with weight and people placement as well, along with having the wakeplate set in the correct spot.

Mcfly,Man that was are problem... thank's for the advice!!! Seriousl, the boat was evenly weighted as where people the people. I really dont know where the plate was but it's only gonna effect the shape..not the size!!

My boat isn't an SSV but the hulls are "sorta similiar"...
I've found that my boats hull (mobius lsv) is speed speed sensitive, more so than other boats I've ridden behind.
It wants speed, a min. of 22.5 mph to firm and shape up the wake, if it is weighted heavily. But at this speed the wake is beautiful in every way. IMO

I want to remove my wakeplate and see how that effects it...

When weighted down the plate can make the wake taller with more vert to it.the first picture i posted was with it up this one is with it down both have the same amount of weight.

Hey I admit I have a sickness and it is very contagious. Also if you read carefully I was just making an observation and I didn't once mention a boat brand, but now that you mention it, BUY CALABRIA!

I don't know how contagious it is, Funkster, but that's definitely a sickness. Even makes me want to puke.

Calair03, from my experience people that have to put other peoples things down are selfconsious about there own. I know that you feel alittle inferior to all of us that own a boat with real wakes but try and be humbled by the situation and learn from your mistakes.

I don't get it, tiny wake and no shape? I would put the pro-v up against any wb boat on the market with just stock ballast and it is much bigger. How is a boat full of gas and stock ballast weighing in at approx 4720 going to produce a "tiny" wake. Tiny like how? I have ridden behind most boats on the market and none of them compare with factory weight.
I will say that it will take a little more weight than most boats to totally sink the boat down but I am sure that the weight ratios are the same. Bigger boat, more weight, make sense. And besides who cares about adding more weight, at least there is room on the boat to hide it and get it out of the way if you really want to "sack it out". Anyway I will stop at that and if you guys want to discuss further come to a calabria thread and we will discuss it. I feel guilty for posting on a mobius thread.

That is all you guys talk about is the room in the boat....whoooopiiidiidooooo. Yes,the boat is enormous and has ample storage room. That is not what Iam debating here. All you calabria guys say they have HUGE wake's,my question is a HUGE wake compared to what a bayliner's wake??

I also agree with the Funk, My crew and I were all stoked about getting a pull from this so called killer boat called a Cal-Air (in a comp.) And what a disappointment, The wake SUCKED: soft, washy, NO KICK. To add to the point, they loaded the stuff out of this boat and still not a quality wake. Maybe I'm used to My MC, or buddys Malibu or CC. Your Cal-Air is in the wannabe catagory IMO.

Yes, I also had a Moomba back in the day, The wake was OK. (Nicer then the Cal-Air)

ORIG. FRG, The CalAir is the d/d and even though I really like the wake I was dicussing the wake of the Pro-V above.
I wonder who it was that was weighting the boat for you guys. You should really give it another try and weight it yourself that way you will see for yourself that this is a killer boat.
