I have been riding the old Lyman board from liquid force for a couple years now and love it! They've discontinued them a couple years back tho. Ive been trying to find a board in liquidforce or hyperlites line that rides like it but I can't find one. If anyone knows of a board that ride like it then please let me know. It's a really fast board once you get on edge but when just riding around its kinda slick. If someone could help that would be great!

I've heard the Harley is a lot like the Lyman, but never ridden either.

From what I can tell by looking up that LF Lyman board, it is pretty fast with a good amount of pop, and has a center feature to soften landings. They basically took a continuous rocker and cranked up the amount of rocker in the tip and tail which is very common these days. Overall looks like a good solid board and something I would be interested to try.

I would recommend in order:

1. NEW 2013 Hyperlite Webb = faster than the B-Side and right behind it on pop (2nd in the line in amount of pop), also has a center landing feature similar to the Lyman to make landings softer

2. Hyperlite Franchise = pretty slick flat bottom with very small fins, continuous rocker like the Lyman but the rocker is a 2.6" instead of a 2.4" so it will get more pop than the Lyman while remaining fast on the water (the Ronix Bill is another example of this feature where you take a continuous shape and turn the rocker up on the tip and tail to get more pop)

3. Hyperlite Murray = slightly more responsive than the Franchise and the Webb, but in in between on pop, our shop has had a few come back and people ended up going with the Franchise

All of these boards are fairly flat on the bottom so they will be kinda slick and super easy to do surface tricks. But based on the style you described I still think the 2013 Hyperlite Webb will definitely be a board to try out. JD's boards have always had tons of pop but now they took out some rocker to make the board a lot faster so that would be what I'd consider. If you wanted to expand to another brand I would also suggest a Ronix Bill.

We will be carrying all the Hyperlite and CWB boards in the next few months so definitely looking forward to their line!

I contacted Liquid Force with the same question, they said:

Harley Pro model, hands down. Fast, loose, tons of pop! Wait for the 2013. There were some issues with the Carbon X feature this year, but we’ve corrected it for next year. They should be available in a month or so.

I read that the Carbon X covered about the middle half of the board or so, which created very weak points at the front quarter and rear quarter basically. The 2013 Harley doesn't have this X pattern
