So I just got back into riding again and I am riding a old 2004 hyperlite tfd bio. I figure I'll ride that until it falls apart at the cable then upgrade, but I bought bindings a couple of months ago. I wanted closed toe but was on a budget so I got a pair of Gator Gonzalez ltd's. The bindings are ok and are a big upgrade from the old open toes I used to ride. My question is this, I have a opportunity to pick up some 2011 LF Shane's for less then $100. I can pick these up and sell my bindings for around $50. So for about $50 I can upgrade my bindings. Is it worth it?
I already know I am going to be limited with my stance options since the change from 8in to 6in base plate, but I plan to ride my current deck until it falls apart then upgrade so the issue with the base plate will only be for a few months ( maybe christmas ) |

| Reading the reviews on these bindings I would say $50 would be a steal |

| I ride 2011 shane's and love them, $50 is a great upgrade. You've got the double lace option and the velcro strap so pretty much every option you can imagine for cranking them up tight or ride really loose or 1/2 loose. |

Well I just picked up those 2011 LF Shane's for $80. First thing I noticed when I mounted them on my board is they are allot lighter then my other bindings, zero heel/toe lift and have more flex. Gotta love that their lighter and with my surfing background I think I'm going to like the flex of these. Now I just have to sell my old bindings.
Question for you guys. I am riding a 04 HL TFD bio, is there a big difference in newer boards weight like there is with bindings?
and thank you Andi and fd for the input |

Technology in boards has advanced A LOT sense '04. Definitely when you get some extra cash upgrade! There probably is a weight difference but I doubt it would be completely noticeable. _________________ "It's just water..not concrete or dirt..just throw it!! |

I def want to upgrade and being in Orlando I can get gear cheap. I have to wait till I wear out/break this board first or the wifey will get pissey. Looking a the bottom of the TFD I don't see much difference in the shape compared to Ronix boards. Is the difference more with the material (flex and hybrid), stronger side walls and grind base's? |

no, it's all just stuff...
seriously now.. just testride somebodies newer board at the park. the durability has also changed immensely for the better.
is it worth the change? without a doubt.
does your old board suck in comparison to the new stuff? without a doubt. |
