Hey guys, I ride on the 2012 Ronix "cookie" board and i have a hard time getting a real good/hard edge. The board feels really loose on the water (great for surface tricks, but not for coming at the wake).
I was thinking about switching to my .8 slider fins that came with the board (my theory, my grip since they have a squared bottom). What do you guys think? |

what fins do you currently have on it now? if none, try the .8 slider fins
if you're already running 1" fins, then i guess it'd be better to either get used to this board or switch to another.
i personally struggle quite a bit with a ronix bill board too. with fins it feels horrible, and i lose the edge without them. i just try to adjust my riding to accomodate to it. not getting very far tho, after 2-3 sets on the bill board i can hop back on the S4 and instantly jump my usual height/land tricks etc. |

i'm currently riding the 1" fins.
The board is fast on the water so i can get pretty high in the air if i come at the wake at a 45 degree angle, but soon as i come at it at a 90 degree angle (Full edge for tricks like the backroll) the board tends to slip out. It almost feels like a wakeskate with bindings.
I would switch but the board and boots were expensive, so i'm gonna try to get used to it. Every now and then i ride my buddies Ronix Ibex and i feel a lot more control and the board doesn't sli out on me as much |

| i've been riding for about 2.5 years. i started off using a CWB board, then switched to a hyperlite byerly board, and at the beginning of this year i got the 2012 ronix bill board. |

From my experience on Ronix boards, the 1.0 fins make the board to grippy to the water. I know people that have swapped to 0.8 to loosen it up. Decreasing fins would make it loser in theory. There is a limit to how hard you can edge..before sliding out.

you should have more grip with the standard 1.0 ramp fins that come with it. The .8 sliders that come with it should be less grip.

judging from what you've written here, i'm thinking it has less to do with the fins but rather the rocker of the board. with an aggressive 3 stage board like the bill, when you're cutting hard towards the wake (i.e. almost 90 degree) the tail end of the heelside edge has less 'grab' into the water compared to a continuous rocker board, and i find that this makes the board feels like it doesn't edge as hard. i've gradually managed to compensate for this by putting slight more weight on the rear foot as i edge it and hit the wake.
obviously this means having to rebalance the body once i leave the wake, and this is what i've been working hard at. the timing of the pop is much more crucial than riding other boards. i ride finless by the way so i have even less grip than you do when edging hard |

| Yea i tried riding finless to help learn some board control. Since i have put the fins back on i've finally got the edging down. Though it's still a little tricky, my board gets the highest pop out of the bunch |
