Anyone have any experience with vapor lock on there boat? I was out on the boat in Las Vegas pulling wake boarders and tubers then I parked the boat for an hour and decided to head in, on the way into the marina the boat acted like it was out of gas so I cut the throttle to about 1/3 open and it ran good enough to get us in. It was 112 out that day.
I took the boat out 3 days later and it ran great all day, but when I stopped I would leave the engine cover open.

I have had the same thing happen to me few times. I have an 06 supra and in myy onwers manual it tells you how to get the boat to start back. Its something like with the boat off push the throttle all the way down three times turn the key to on then off then start the boat that might not be exactly how you do it but im sure you can find out exactly how to do it with a goggle search

I think if you pour some cool water on the fuel pump it will get it to start... or so I have heard.

There are several shadetree mechanic suggestions. I had the same problem with my 85 Ski Supreme and I wrapped foil around the entire fuel line from tank to carburetor. I would also put a couple sandals under the doghouse to get a little more air in on the motor. I would still get vapor lock on super hot days, but for the most part it seemed to help.

SKIDim.com has a nice fuel line insulation that's cheap I've been hearing about. Run your blower especially if you are surfing to keep the circulation of fresh air in your compartment. Check all your intake and blower hoses as well.

I vaporlocked a few weeks ago for the first time. My blower hose was torn, I replaced it and now run the blower when we are surfing. I haven't had a problem since.

I also got some of this Sta-bil marine ethanol remover too. http://www.amazon.com/STA-BIL-22240-Marine-Fuel-Stabilizer/dp/B001CAW2DK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1342217701&sr=8-1&keywords=marine+sta-bil

If it happens again and it won't start try pouring water on the fuel lines and fuel pump.

yup - it's not uncommon all the fixes work to varying degrees - a cool towel around the pump will get you going as well - running the blower is a must

I crack the motor cover on mine(direct drive) when I stop for over 30 minutes. Also run the blower when your idling and it helps.
