I have a Mariah SX21 and have purchased a Jobe Addict 1.3 tower. The question is, should I fit this myself or leave it to the professionals? Does anyone have any views / experience / top tips for me.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards

Mike

I just installed an aerial Airborne tower which is that exact same tower. Do it yourself, it really is not that bad. The part that took the longest was planning on where to put the feet. I debated that over and over for a while before finally deciding.
I am sure you have heard to use backing plates. Make the backing plate as big as possible to go inside your hull. I used starboard, others use marine plywood. Some actually fibreglass the backing plates to the inside of the hull, I did not bother. I glued mine to the hull with liquid nails. Glob it on there super thick, and when you do the install only tighten the feet through bolts down about 80%, let the adhesive harden for a day or so, then tighten them the rest of the way down. I also counter sunk each foot hole as this was adivsed to me. Any other questions, feel free to ask.

MakingaSplash, We offer a professional fitting service across the whole of the UK for Jobe, Monster Tower, Roswell Wake Air, OEM and all others.

Might be worth giving us a call during the week to work something mutually beneficial out for both our companies.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Pat, I'm looking at buying this tower and modifying it to fit my boat by reducing size of the top 'H' section.
Any chance you can let me know the height of this tower from the mounts up?

gR@HaM, Its not terribly easy to do this - We have tried several times. it would be as easier to build a new top section from scratch.

We're in your neck of the woods if you want to have a chat about putting a cheap tower together... Always happy to try and help someone get on to the water for a little less £££.
