Reading a lot of forums I notice that mb owners throw mb out every chance they get. Even when a guy is deciding between two boats. I notice this particularly on wakeworld. Where does this insecurity come from? I feel like they are constantly searching for validation. Anybody shed some light or are these boats just that awesome? _________________ Don't rush to judge me, no matter how fast you won't be the first one. |

yeah it kind of comes off like that to me too, they seem desperate for approval, like a girl with daddy issues
you want a trip go on the moomba forum and compare any other boat to a moomba, they will crucify you over there, was comparing the wake behind a Mojo to my 2003 SANTE and some dude got his panties in a wad big time, never said my wake was better but he went off on me _________________ Lithic, LLC, my biz

Moomba people are super loyal to the brand... I personally find MC people more that way than moomba folks. My .02 _________________ '08 Mobius LS |

| I think it's partly brand loyalty, partly joking, partly insecurity at having a lower end boat, and partly a stab at the boat snobs who would never consider anything but the more expensive, popular names like malibu or mastercraft. From everything i've seen or heard MB is a damn good boat especially considering the pricetag. Not alot of the frills or fancy crap, but a good boat for the guy who just wants to get out and ride. When i upgrade from my 205DD in the next few years an MB will one of the boats on my list to consider. |

I would definitely consider an MB, i don't need a touch screen and super fancy vinyl. To me, i need a hull an engine some ballast and a good seating arrangement. _________________ Don't rush to judge me, no matter how fast you won't be the first one. |

brand loyalty definitely makes people come off wrong or get their panties in a wad, personally i love my nautique but if buying new could not afford one and would look at other options, people that can't afford a 75k+ boat and buy a great new boat in the 50-60k range can't appreciate that they have a great boat and just aren't as financially able to get the boat they would if they could, be grateful for what you can afford, there are LOTS of people who sit home because they don't a boat period, but overall it does seem MB and Moomba people take everything the wrong way and are constantly defending their boats/brand _________________ Lithic, LLC, my biz

Slidin out - I read that post on moomba, it was quite an interesting read. I think if that was a face to face conversation the guy would have tried to fight you.
To answer the original question, I think most people just say their brand first because they like their boat and they know it well. Therefore it is easy for them to say 'hey get this brand I love it'. |

yeah that dude just way bent out of shape, i was thinking the guy was kidding at first but no, all because i compared the wake behind my boat to the Mojo that we were trying to get setup correctly, geez _________________ Lithic, LLC, my biz

Plus, MB boats seam to pack a lot of punch for the $$. I have not ridden behind one, but I would sure love to so I could develop an opinion of my own. But after going to the boat show several months ago, I left feeling like I wanted an MB. Brand new, with all the features I would be looking for in an X-Star, You are out the door at around $55k. And their ballast system seams to be a dream come true. I suppose what I would be more interested in is hearing from someone who doesn't own one, but knows someone who does.
So far, my only gripe is how far behind they are aesthetically from everyone else. They certainly seem to have the quality of finish, but the graphics in the gelcoat and stitching and interior finishes all look similar to what has been done 10 years ago from the big dogs. |

Additionally, the other forum is very California centric. In years past Sanger was a sweetheart of that forum. Both Sanger and MB are built in California and pack great value in their boats. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong. |

<---moomba fetish.
i tried to leave when i bought my 3rd boat, but comparing side by side at the boat show brought me right back. its was obviously the best boat for ME.
lol definatly no insecurities about owning a value priced boat, if i had more money id still have bought the same boat. id say its actually quite the opposite
i will definatly look at MB for the 4th boat though. i really dig that gravity ballast. but they will have to get better graphics first. they took one step forward getting rid of the tribal flames. but the X graphics just dont do it for me. im sure next generation will be better. _________________

SKS you seem to be about the only level headed Moomba when it comes to talking about this stuff, I bet your next one will be the Mojo, they stepped it up with that one, but back on point people get crazy defensive about their boats, new boat showed up on our river and i got to talking to the guy, he had a nice new or almost new 216 Nautique, asked him why he picked that one over the 210 and he got his spurs out, hell it was a simple question because he had just told me he wanted to get into wakeboarding "hardcore", i just said nice boat and floated off before the alcohol took over his brain, think i'm done commenting on any boat discussions, seems i come across as arrogant because i own an older 210, geez lots of boats make great wakes at different prices _________________ Lithic, LLC, my biz

thanks i try to talk with as much facts and expireiences as i can, and less opinions. i think that helps. im also just as open to admiting moombas own faults not just pointing out others. ive had the pleasure of riding behind just about every major wakeboat over the years, so i feel like i can add to some conversations.
ironically no, for some reason i have no desire to own a Mojo. _________________

| Nobody builds a bad boat. All builders have stepped it up in the past few years. IMO Moomba has always been the freckled redhead little sister to Supra .WOW, little sister has grown up. The new Moombas have me wondering where did that come from. Moomba has done a great job with their line. MB has also made advancements but there is still two things that bother me about then .1- The ballast is a gravity system that essentially fills the lower hull with water you only have side to side control of the weight . 2-They are not NMMA certified . The NMMA deals with safety items including venting and flotation . I suspect the ballast has something to do with the lack of certification but I was slammed for even bringing it up on WW and never got an answer. I have never even seen a newer MB the closest dealer is 220 miles away so its not a big deal to me. I'm not sure if that would be enough to stop me from buying an MB but I would need to know first. |
