Last night I officially became a wakeboarder! Ok, I finally got up and rode for more than 8 feet without a faceplant. My wife and I bought a place on our local lake and moved out there in February. We bought a boat shortly after. I have skied all my life, but never wakeboarded. Looks like it is never too late to learn new things. I am 49 (will be 50 in August). Both of my sons in their early 20s are learning with me. Its gonna be a fun summer!

Awesome! Welcome to the sport, it only gets better from here!

Must mention too, I love when older people ride, gives me inspiration and confidence that I have many, many more years to come! Smile

When I started boat shopping, the only thing I did was waterski, so we were looking for a ski boat. The boys and their friends also just cruise around the lake a lot. For these two reasons, we chose a Glastron SX195. It has a 305 V8 and was in great shape. After we realized that we were going to begin wakeboarding, we added a tower, and stereo. The boat isn't a true wakeboard boat, but we are having a ball!

The view from the back yard....

What an "old" man looks like waterskiing. Are these allowable here? lol

That's great! Love the view you got there! Who cares whether it's a "true" wakeboat or whatever, I rode for years and years behind several outboards (starting with a 20 hp, 9 ft midget boat;) and always had a blast. Ski-pics allowed as long as you promise to post some wake-pics next time!

Good looking boat setup PARTSPHIL. I had a setup like that for many years before getting a tournament ski boat and we had a blast with it. Have fun with the wakeboarding!

Careful with glastron and spider cracking the boat.... I went through that nightmare already with them on a tower they installed, boat needs a larger backing plate as the glass is too thin.
