|
|
Picked up my new ride yesterday from the Malibu plant. 2012 Axis A22 Vandal Edition. I went solid white this year. I LOVED last years boat so much I went back with another A22. This boat throws the sickest wake IMO on the market for a remarkably affordable price. I had no problems out of the '11, and it was a breeze selling it at the end of the season.
I've got lots of work to do - installing the z5, dual batteries and full wetsounds system!
More pics to come.
Oh, and much thanks to Owen Shelton at Boatmate Trailers for making my vision for this trailer a reality. I wanted all clear led lamps, black anodized diamond plate, reverse lights, full spare, and high gloss white with tons of clear on the trailer. I couldn't be happier. Thanks Boatmate!!!
Oh, and I want to give a shout out to my local dealer, Marine Outfitters (423 336 1088) for helping me sell my old boat, order this baby, and outfit me with all sorts of gear for the upcoming season at super fair prices. I've referred a bunch of people to Joyce over at MO over the past 4 years, and everyone I know who's dealt with her has been extremely pleased. She carries Axis, Malibu, Moomba, Supra, Ronix, Hyperlite, Slingshot, fly high, Wetsounds, etc. etc.
What do you guys think? More pics to come!

Strange seeing your boat pretty much stock... I know that will not last long. Cannot wait to see it finished.

Couple more pics. I've got to get the white mirror arm on, install some white wetsounds rev 410's, and a few other goodies.

| The Axis A22, A20 and the MXZ use the drop in liners. The other boats are built the other way.

| Very Nice! Although I'm curious why you need the upgraded engine? Im pretty big and we are at 3300 feet above sea level and my standard motor pops me out of the water right away. I am just running stock ballasts right now (and we had 8 people in the boat) because im a noob, next time out I will have the front bow pnp sack and I may add rear later. Will the extra weight really make a huge difference or is it just an upgrade that you typically add?

Chattwake,
Nice, I thought they were basically built the same. I have to say the Axis stock just jumped up in my mind... i wonder why the rest of the Malibu line up wouldn't figure this out? If only they'd put a windshield on it.... Is that on option? Honestly there's a lot of days on the water that can be cool and a wrap around window and closed off bow are key to having a decent day on the water...

That's what you get for living in Canada! Actually, you'd be surprised that the axis windshield does a great job of blocking wind and spray. Yes, the cross wind will get you a bit, but I really like being able to reach out the side and grab a dock when I'm tying up and talk to the rider in the water as I pass him by without getting out of my seat.
jgriffith, I run like 4k in extra ballast on top of factory from time to time.

That is interesting on how the boat sits over the wheel wells on the trailer.
Nice boat, why don't you live on a lake?

I have to say, there were some downsides, but moving to a lake was one of the best decisions i have ever made. I have a little longer commute to work, and there is more general maintenance and upkeep. But all worth it.
It's not hard to trailer a boat to the launch every time you go out, but it adds an hour to each trip, and that is if you live close to the launch. I can hop in the boat right after work, take a 10 minute zip around the lake with a beer or whatever and then park it for the next day. It's a good way to unwind after a day at the office.

i liked the all black one from last year but i think the all white is the cleanest scheme you can go with, if my plans work out and i order my 2013 next year it will be all white and look almost like yours, will have to make it a little different, right now just having a hard time letting go of my old trusty 210, when i upgrade it will be one of these

Ok, I FINALLY got the boat 99.9% completed. The only thing left to do is purchase and install two rca splitters to that I can send signal from the ws420 to the syn2's to power the rev410s. I'm really happy with how things went together. I actually love the new, more basic, wetsounds tower clamps. They reduced the hanging height of the 410's significantly, which allowed me to get about an inch more headroom with my z5 that I had with last year's boat. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Axis' tower is prewired and predrilled to allow the rev410's to be installed with the wiring going through the speaker clamps. It makes everything look soooooo much cleaner.
So, this weekend I was able to install the ws410, the xs12, run all speaker wires to the syn6 and syn2's, install a second battery, install a mirror arm and mirror, install the rev410's, and install all of the plug n play bags. I had the guys at axis upgrade my ballast system to malibu's new high flow system with this boat, so I've got full 1'' hose througout - which is going to be awesome for fill and dump times for th 1100's I put in the rear hatched and the front 900lb pnp sac. I'll tell you one thing though, it is noticably more difficult to bend and route that larger diameter tubing.
I have a little more clean up work to do on the wiring, but I'm really happy how everything turned out. And yes, I do have a huge in-line fuse between the power distribution block and the battery selector switch.
So, what do you guys think??? I hope to get it out this week and take some video/pictures of the wake.

Is there a noticeable difference in the Rev 410's over the older 485's?
I also have to second everybody's opinion on this boat looking amazing.
