I tried to search for a trailer thread, but I am having trouble with the search function. I am beginning my boat search and I am looking to buy anywhere from the end of this season to the beginning of next.
When looking at trailers,
How important is a single axle vs. a dual axle?
How many miles can you put on a trailer?
How can you judge the condition/quality of a trailer?
I go to Canada once a year, about a 1000 miles round trip. I plan to take my boat with me. Is this too far to trailer a boat? |

If I could do it again, I would have gotten a dual axle. Weight ratio is more balanced on the trailer than the tongue to your vehicle and less likely to fish tail on you while towing.
As for mileage, unlimited as long as the frame isn't rusted, wheels bearings are good, brakes functional, and tires not dry rotted.
While looking at the condition, look at what's listed above in proper working condition. Make sure the surge brake solenoid is functional or reverse isn't gonna happen. _________________ 2010 Glastron GT 205XL ( Volvo 4.3L GL-J)
