Ok who has an edelbrock carb on their boat here? If its a 1409 can you take a pic of the starbord side of the carb and post it on here. Having trouble having the top flap to stay closed while idleing. I think it has something to do with the electric choke. Mine currently does not have an electric choke on it but i am going to try and install it. What 12v source did you hook the red wire up to?

I don't know if mine's a 1409, but it doesn't have a choke on it and I don't have a problem. You might try adjusting the linkage?

The top flap is the choke and after a couple of minutes of running it should be open, even at idle. On a boat (or car) that not used below 50f, you can usually get by without the choke. Just runs a little rough the 1st minute or two. I actually preffer not running the choke, one less thing to go wrong.

Thanks for all the help. I bought an electric choke kit but it was not the exact pieces that I needed. The rod that goes across the top and holds the flap down had a screw broke off on the starboard side. The other rod was different so it was unusable. I drilled out the end of the rod and screwed a wood screw in there to hold the linkage on. Works perfect now after some adjusting th carb.
