I just bought a new Ronix handle last season so I do not want/need a combo. I know there are some really good ones out there but that is not what I am looking for. What I am looking for is a mainline that is coated and 70-80'. I am a beginner/intermediate rider. Does anyone have a mainline with 2.5' sections? Are they really necessary or are 5' takeoffs ok? Any advice/suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

5' sections should be fine (and I think is pretty standard). Personally I don't see a huge point in 2.5' sections since it's such a small difference in length.

I've been using a coated Ronix line (got a combo w/a handle) for a while now. I don't ride boat often (I'm a cable rat) it's held up well and does the job (with some style too!). Not sure what your budget is but I think the coated ropes from the big names go for just over $100 but you can get all kinds of colors.

I looked over boardstop really quick and saw this line too: http://www.boardstop.com/product_info.php?cPath=67_55_77&products_id=531

I used that one for a long time and saw really heavy use/abuse and it was fine. It's only 70' though. I imagine the other Accurate lines (the A-Line is 80ft) hold up pretty well too.

i got one on ebay with a handle for like 60 bucks its coated and is zero stretch. The coating changed color a little bit, but no complaints otherwise.

Accurate A-line it's amazing! I had a gator two years ago and it tangled, knotted, ect. The A-line is great never knots its bright and super flexible.

ditto on the accurate mainline - either an X line or A line - A line is 80 feet pretty reasonably priced - I got my last one on Ebay for like 50 bucks new
