you ride goofy, when you have your left foot forward you are riding switch.

another way to think about the spins

if you spin and your chest and hips toward the boat that is frontside
if you spin and your back and butt go toward the boat that is backside

if you have 20 extra dollars I would recommend getting Shaun Murray's dvd "Detention 2012" he does a great job explaining all the terms with visuals

I have not personally watched it but I have heard "The Book" dvd is really good as well

also check out youtube for frontside and backside spins

We all start somewhere! I always try to ride with guys who are better than me. When I get better than them, I move on up to a new group so that I can suck again. I'm in a perpetual state of sucking, but it's the best way to learn!

wakechick13, you really need to buy 'the book' dvd, buy 'detention 2012', or buy a pass to learnwake.com. you can find 'the book', or 'detention 2012' on ebay or boardstop (i think ed? gives a discount for forum users) for $20-25. learnwake.com you have to subscribe to, i dont know how much that costs. These dvd's will give you very basic drills all the way up to advanced drills. these are things you can practice every time on the water and progress into tricks. they have helped a lot of us on here

learnwake has a ton of videos that take you through pretty much everything you can do on a wakeboard in step by step directions. you can preview their videos on youtube. i personally like having a hard copy that is why i bought the detention 2012.

I love this thread, it has gone from when do you start your season to business to longboarding to wetsuits to instructional videos. I think its great.

wakechick13, I think you should start a new thread if you have anymore specific questions. That way you will get more answers to the specific question. I love your curiosity and spirit keep it up.

I love the way its gone also! Thank you! I loooove this site! I have learned so much in the little time that I have been on here. And the atmosphere is amazing. I will go and create a learnwake.com topic because I am curious now.

Again, we all start somewhere. Very few of us are lucky enough to be born into wakeboarding. My friends and family had never even heard of it and we've never owned a wakeboarding boat. I've had to work hard every day to make connections and get my name out there, and I'm still working at it, online and in person.

There wasn't much of a wake scene in my home state of CT, so I busted my ass to get into college in Florida. I didn't have a boat and the people at my school weren't that into wakeboarding, so I went to my local boardshop and called a guy whose flyer I saw on the wall. He taught me almost everything I know, but then he decided to move away.

I bought a season pass at the cable park and started riding there. At a competition in Orlando, I met some kids whose parents owned a boat dealership in Orlando. I made myself the best riding buddy and cameraman I could be, and now I get to ride with them on their brand new Nautiques and Mastercrafts.

That's just part of the story, but my point is that a huge part of the work it takes to become a good wakeboarder is introducing yourself to the right people and making good impressions. You'd be surprised what people will offer you if you can make yourself useful and fun to have around!

That is really good to know. I could probably work at lot harder at trying to progess, and thats my goal for this year is to try to ride to the fullest amount. My parents are divorced so I only see my dad every now and then but I ride as much as I can when I do see him. I have noticed that we all just fall into place because we have something in common interest.

The link I posted earlier about lessons. They also have a team lesson during the summer I believe it's like 35 dollars per evening. You would get instruction and meet other people with the same interests. My understanding is there are some more girls around your age in it.

wakechick13, as motivation, I started riding when I was 7, self-taught a tantrum (straight backflip, just went for it) when I was 10, and went to the Projects when I was 13 to give me a boost to what I've gotten to today. Every single one of my tricks is self taught (except for about three)... I did this by watching instructional videos (original Detention), trampoline for the motions, and just getting out there and doing it. Best way to get it done is to learn the easiest variation of a trick and build from there. My mobes, raley tricks, and spins all started from a simple flip, raley, and 180.

Here's a video from last Spring. My section starts at 1:17

Thanks mgs917!

wakechick13, the Projects is a wake park/camp in Orlando. It's a sick place... the boarding school actually took over the house and the two boat lakes while the original Projects is in charge of the rail park/Sesitec cables.

Cottonwood Creek Marina is in Little Elm not sure what restaurant your talking about. If you google Cottonwood Creek Marina Lewisville Lake that should get you the marina info.
