Where can I get some that don't have really boring lame designs? I want bright neon colors think late 80s early 90s type color scheme. I have just started looking around and have been very disappointed.

That's a step in the right direction, thank you sir. Still looking for something a bit brighter and more neon if anyone knows of anything, I'm a slave to retro fashion

I just bought a new vest last season, or I would look into this one. You have to search a lot and look around. I think it is from two years ago.

If you want something unique and wild, snoop around for Helium's old tuxedo vest. I don't think they make it anymore, but it's classy as hell!

I think Helium stuff is all gone. They had some really nice vests in 2008-9. Since then we have not really seen much of anything from them. We have not even bought Helium since late 2009. I think Sterns owns them and they are owned by Coleman still. I think our market is just not large enough for them to make it worth while to produce vests????

This is the best I have found yet. What's up with the lack of neon? I like that ronix one mgs, that green is pretty sweet flixmaster too.

Baltfrog, I like that one that you posted. I think the type of colors you want are not in huge demand in the industry. I think it was 2008 most of the companies had a 80's/early 90's theme. I don't think it was really a huge hit. Here are a couple examples from that year.

80's fashion sucked, the only difference now is it only took the manufacturers one year to stop making it instead of 10+, not everything old should be made new again, some of it should just keep rotting away

For real, 80s fashion is fun and bright better then 90s grunge or the emo skinny jean stuff I see going on today

mgs i thought I had done a pretty extensive search but you have certainly done a better one. those are some sweet vests. I like the last oneill one the most. My concern about the womens vests is how they are cut in the front. Anybody have any experience with that?

Baltfrog, The 'risky business' vest and the three that I listed are not coast guard approved. The ones I listed are pullover vests. These vests give you minimal floatation. Some people like them better because they feel they can move better. While others swear by coast guard approved vests. If you search you should be able to find entire threads where members discuss these differences.

i'm up in the air about which to get coast guard vs non coast guard. I am a great swimmer and don't worry too much but that makes no difference if i get knocked out.

Just got an oneill wetsuit, maybe I should stay brand loyal. I do like that one too. At this point I haven't fallen in love with anything so I might use what I have till I find the perfect vest. Although you guys were definitely able to find way cooler ones then I was.

What about a vest that can take a beating? From my experience the Comp vests come apart pretty easy. The stitching falls apart after a few falls...

ToPHeR31, I have used a cwb essential vest for 2.5 seasons. It is a side entry vest with two buckles on the side. The vest is also CGA. This is the vest but mine is white.

Baltfrog, I am 5'9 175 and I wear the medium. It is a bit snug, but it has huge arm openings which is cool. The XL may fit you, but you might want to check the store's return policy before you buy. Just in case it is not the right fit.

It's funny you ask whats up with the lack of retro / neon colors balt. The reason is because about 3 years they tried to bring that style back and everyone hated it with a passion myself very much included (no offense intended).

Unfortunately your taste doesn't seem to be in "style" at the moment. Like I said though wakeboard gear from like 08 or 09 had a bunch of retro colors, I would look for gear from that area, find some old school shorts, then the vest will be the only thing not dripping ridiculous neon colors smashed together in a myriad of insane combinations Smile
