Her dad (this guy) is in IT, and she didn't think he could figure out how to get in to her FB or see her wall? Lol what a dumb ass kid.

I wouldn't have wasted my bullets on that POS laptop.

Awesome. More parents need to help their kids understand how good they have it and take it all away for acting like that.

I didn't watch the whole thing, just the end. What did this kid post?

The gun was nice in a "redneck justice" kind of way, but I think a sledgehammer would have been more fun to watch.

cameraboy, The kid was saying how she is sick of being her parents "slave" and how she should get paid for her chores that she does...she mentioned that they have a cleaning lady and that she is the one that needs to do the house work...and basically if her parents needed something they need to get off their lazy ass and get it themselves.

My son pulls a bunch of nonsense on his mother that he never pulls on me. I was the same way to my mom, but was a little afraid of my father. I think that's the natural order of things...

Jesus. How did you grow up in the technical world without knowing it's a LAP TOP?

Designed to be used in your LAP.

Who is the Vice President of the United States, wakechick? If you can answer that without searching online or asking someone, we can let the lab top thing go.

HAHAHAHA!

All I could think of when he shot up the labtop is the baby commercial where the mom takes the laptop away and the baby pulls out the iphone, the girl going to find some way to make her connections.

Dad is an asshat. There are obviously far bigger problems in that family than daughter venting on FB or dad acting out his little rant.

No kidding... it's pretty easy to see where the daughter gets her sh_tty attitude from.

Also, as soon as a parent starts to argue with a child about why something has to be done, the child has already won......

Most sensible people should be similarly pissed if they were trying to raise their daughter well and she acted this stupid. I may not have gone public, but I would have shot the damn laptop, and grounded her for eternity.

I worked at 15 to buy my first car. Cant wait to make my kid do the same. Very Happy

Welcome to any child who has to do something they dont want to. I'm sure I whined to my parents about chores growing up.

Granted, however, my father would not have lost his marbles and brought himself down to a level of poppin' caps and making a screenplay fit for lifetime. The lack of maturity speaks volumes to me.

I think you are missing my point... I realize that kids whine when they have to do stuff... but then there are a few ways how the parent can handle it. One way is to try and get on their level to argue with them and go through all of the reasons about why it has to be done... but if the kid doesn't respect the parent's authority in the first place, nothing will happen.

Just the other day I saw a mom with her young son at the grocery store. The son wanted to get some candy. Instead of saying 'no' and moving on, the mom starts explaining why they can't get it. The kid starts complaining back. The mom raises her voice. The kid starts yelling. And next thing you know, I'm watching a grown woman and her 4-year-old son arguing with each other at the top of their voices at the grocery store....

My father never took any action in anger. I got hit a few times, but it was calculated and not done when he was angry.

Wait, correction: one time he hit me when he was angry. I deserved it though.

But I would much rather see this guy shooting his kid's laptop than beating her with a belt like that judge last year. Or shooting her. Which happens.

We're not in a Sophies choice situation. I'd prefer he simply behave like a responsible adult who is in control of his emotions. Which [also] happens.

I think you are assuming that the guy is not in control of his emotions, and that's fine, but I'm not sure that is true.

It's no skin off my nose though, I'm not one to tell anyone how to raise their own kids, short of some drastic measures universally considered to be child abuse.

There is a difference between punishment and public humiliation. The kid sounds like a little knuckle sandwich and deserves punishment. Internet humiliation is not going to get him the desired effect.

My wife often gets caught in this trap, trying to explain to our boys why she is saying no. It doesn't usually work out too well. Seems to me it works out about as well as time outs, trying not to hurt their feelings, or trying to be their friend. Wink

My parents did the same thing and I've followed that example. Send the kid to their room, discuss what the punishment should be, let yourself calm down if you got worked up, then go discuss it with the kid and administer whatever punishment you've decided upon.
