You definitely appreciate things more when they're gone. On thing I miss about CA is In-N-Out. A couple friends of mine went down to Hydrous yesterday and they were kind enough to bring me back a treat. I sure hope they expand to OK.

Do you have a Five Guys Burgers and Fries where you are now?
They have the best burger I've ever had. Never tried In N out though. would like to though. _________________ I walk 47 miles of barb wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie, a brand new house up on the road side, and it's made out of rattlesnake hide
IMPO the biggest problem with 5 guys and why In-n-Out is , again IMPO, much better is that the bun always ends up disintegrating from the grease. I don't know if it is the type of bun or how In-n-Out toasts it but it doesn't turn into playdough like a Five Guys bun. _________________ Is President Obama a Keynesian?
that's true, a five guy's bun does turn to mush by the end of the burger... _________________ I walk 47 miles of barb wire, I got a cobra snake for a necktie, a brand new house up on the road side, and it's made out of rattlesnake hide
No Five Guys here either...although they do have them down in TX. I guess Five Guys is in CA too. A couple friends I've grown up with have gone there and said they are good. Everyone has their opinions on burgers...mine is I like In-N-Out the best of all from what I've tasted so far in my life.
eeven73, it could be fat content of the meat. Maybe 5 guys his higher fat content so the meat is greasier.
They just opened a smash burger here. My wife and I tried it the other day and it was pretty good. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?

As a guy who has tried Five Guys, In and Out, the best burger joint in NYC (doesnt have a name), and others...there is a clear winner, in my opinion.
Cook Out>______
99% of you probably dont have a Cook Out. They are in almost every city in NC and a handful in VA and maybe SC but they are expanding fast and I expect total burger domination within a few years.
You can get a Double Cheeseburger (hot off the grill that is very similar to In and Out but without the crunchy bun; better in my opinion), 3 chicken nuggets, delicious fries, and a milkshake with unlimited ingredients (Reeses, snickers, mint oreo, etc.) for $6.00. Cant beat that anywhere
JeffreyCH, yup, I've eaten there. They are pretty good too. This might sound weird, but their burgers taste too much like what they would if I cooked them at home. I go out to a burger place to get something I can't get at home. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?
Okie Boarder, Kinda weird for sure. Still hard to top the chili cheese waffle fries
Yeah, I just don't see the point in paying someone to make something that tastes just like what I can make for a lot less $$$. Hard to top anything chili cheese topped. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?

I havent had INO, but I've had cookout, 5guys, and Buns(chapel hill, nc). At least I think it was Buns. 5guys definitely tops the list maybe tied with a few other great burgers. Good fries too when they season them.
I have a 5guys 15 minutes a way. _________________

Never had a 5 Guys but I guess they are showing up in the burbs around here. Some of these joints are not exactly comparable. But as a Californian, I'm biased to the double double animal style. That being said, the danger in the new year is a squeeze inn showing up 2 blocks from my office. Again, not a comparable burger joint as there is no drive through and they are only in this town.

I love 5 guys. But I've only been once, and I'll probably never go again
By far, the greasiest, messiest fast food burger I've ever eaten. It's delicious, but you can literally feel the fat clogging your arteries. I'm FAR from a health nut, but this was the only burger joint where I felt tired and physically ill hours after leaving. And in my heyday, I could down two double quarter pounders and 3 McChickens.
In&Out has never really impressed me (almost reminds me of Dairy Queen), but I do like the more natural tasting fries. Living in Socal, they have you tricked though. They're always SO packed, that anytime you drive passed one with an empty Drive Thru, it's almost irresponsible NOT to stop
I'll still take a Teriyaki burger from Carl's Jr. or a Dollar menu McD's splurge anyday. _________________ "I'm scared if I stop drinking all at once, the cumulative hangover will literally kill me."

Well INO opened up a few places here in Texas, but they are not good. 5 Guys and Smashburger are really good. I have friends from Cali and they all say that INO is way better in Cali than here. _________________ A little part of me dies inside every time I see an $80,000 Malibu Wakesetter pulling a tuber.

I'm curious now! Where was it? Possibly...
- Burger Joint (hidden in the Parker Meridien hotel lobby)
- Corner Bistro
- Pete's Tavern or Old Town Bar
- Blue Nine
5 Guys just opened a shop out here that's less than a mile from an In n Out. We'll see how that goes for them. I'm guessing not too well. _________________ www.TheLiquidPlayground.com

I really like 5 guys burgers and their fries are great too, for the one time a month or so I eat fast food that's where I'm going.
We had cookout when I was in school in NC, it's been years but I don't remember it being anything special. Just tasted like frozen patties that you would grill at home.
I've had Cheeburger Cheeburger once but it was in travel plaza on the FL turnpike, so I'll try not to judge them by that
wakechick13, interesting. This is only the second time I've gotten Texas INO. Both times I've been eating it "not fresh" so my judgment on it is skewed. We're probably going to take a trip or two down that way this year so we'll try it fresh and see if we notice the same thing. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?
5 Guys = no thanks. Greasy & overpriced. There is a Habit literally across the street from the one that just opened here, so if I'm going that way I'm at Habit.
Smash = current fav. Their bbq bacon burger is awesome. So is their buffalo chix (grilled).
Habit = like a grilled version of INO. Fries are way better at Habit. They have a really good tri-tip sando too.
InNOut = always good. Get the fries well done and they are much better. I also dump pepper on any fries that I eat so that helps too. The burgers are why I go to INO, the fries are just there for filler.
Squeeze = give me the Squeeze cheese with a Smash burger and I'd be in burger heaven. Squeeze burger patties are just ok, but that cheese.... omfg the cheese.... _________________
chavez, Squeeze is now open on 16th and K which is too damn tempting for lunch or even dinner or even drunk food as they are open fairly late. _________________ If I agreed with you we would both be wrong.
Nor*Cal, I saw that on the news the other day. We have Squeeze next to Mandangos here in Rville. It's either get there way before lunch, or stand in a line out the door. No thanks.... _________________

chavez, I tried this burger mustard fried. First time I've had it that way...really added a nice touch. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?
