i want to get a pylon for my boat, its a I/O sea ray, the pylon has to be removable, and pretty easy to do so. i have been looking at the air boom universal pylon and it looks to be what i am looking for, but its pretty expensive, is there anything similar for less money then that?

A big air pylon ( www.bigairpylons.com ) only costs $285. I got one an it only takes two or three minutes to put up and take down after it's installed.

This is what it looks like on my boat (also a searay). The only permanent fixtures on the boat are the base plate and the two cable clips in the back.

i just instaled that same pylon on my Stingray about a week ago. it works great! but it does take over 2 hours to instale it the first time, after that it only takes a minute to put up and down. well worth the $$$$

looks pretty good, what is teh baseplate like when the pole isnt in it? to install do you have to cut anything, or just screw it down? do you have a picture of the baseplate by any chance?

the baseplate is about 2 inches high and rounded so you dont stub your toes. you have to drill the hole before you screw anything down but you dont have to cut anything

I have a skyscraper on my tige. It's the same idea, but I only have one strap that goes around the bow. Works great, no other straps to get in the way.

what is the install like on one of those? do you just screw the baseplate into the floor or is there some prepping so the floor doesn't crack?

you have to drill 6 holes in the floor and then put screws through to hold the baseplate down. You also have to drill in the fiberglass at the back to hold the back cables down. (look at bluefish's pic)

thanks, so you don't have to reinforce the floor with anything though.

no, theres no strain on the plate, all it does is keep the bottom from moving, the cables keep the pole from moving

Hey Bluefish86, or anyone else..I am about to purchase the same pylon, but, looking at the wires, how does a board rack fit on it. It appears that the would be in the way, and positioning the rack lower would block my field of vision! Do you or anyone else have a pic of a big air pylon with a board rack?????

Thanks!

you probably could because the cables are set highso you wouldn't have to set the rack low.

bluefish86, Did you just order that online? I'm from Canada, and I can't find anything on their site that says that they don't ship to Canada, so I'm just making sure. Some companies won't ship internationally to Canada.

i order the bigairpylon and its awesume all i did was just sreww the basae plate into the floor and pu teh pole up and adjusted the wires to fit i didn;t bother to hook up the D-rings to the side if the boat i didn't want to drill into the side of the boat instead i just attached the hooks from the cable to the cleats of the boatr in the back and the starp around the bow it works awesume and this is my second season with it takes all of 2 minutes to put up and dow. you don't even relize the are wires when in the boat they rarely get in the way you should go with that one its a great buy
