Well, it's getting colder out and that unfortunately means riding less for the majority of us. How many of you have a plan for the off-season?
Even though I'm in Florida and can ride, I tend to hit the lake quite a bit less when the water's cold. My plan, like previous years, is to cross train a bit with kiteboarding and to start hitting the gym more.
I'm also thinking about taking up running every morning just as a general fitness thing that will definitely help my endurance at the cable. |

I've committed to the annual "Lose 20-30 pounds and this time I mean it" routine. Which will inevitably fail because I like food that tastes good. _________________

^^^This
I'm on the track team so my conditioning and weight training is through running and lifting for pole vaulting. I have a broken back right now so I won't be riding until the spring sometime. |

Thanks, I hope so as well!
It's from pole vaulting at nationals in May, and probably a combination of that and some riding over the summer. I already had a bulging disc between L5 and S1 and recently found out that I have a bilateral pars fracture (called spondylolysis) at L3. Been taking the last few weeks off, will be back to running hopefully after Thanksgiving break or the week after that. Most likely back to riding in January or February depending on the recovery. Hopefully I can ride even sooner... I just may be picking up a big sponsor... Details on that when/if it happens! |

| another one with a herniated disk here (between L4 & L5) + sciatica. Can recommend "dry needles" for pain management and also the treatment helps to relax spasmatic muscles. Helped me to start stretching the back and relieve the pain. |

Vea, I don't remember you taking that much time off from riding and kicking butt in the comps!
No off-season for us, maybe just have to slap on a shortie, but we keep going. _________________ Suck it up and get hardcore! |

Wakeboarding. 67 consecutive months and counting...
As always this time of year I'm thankful to live in the south. Rode on Sunday, air temp 78, water temp 62.
If I couldn't wakeboard year round then I'd definitely want to live someplace snowy and mountainous so I could at least snowboard regularly in the winter. _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com

CONSUMING ALCOHOL!*illegally* then having to run from cops busting the party... its a fairly decent cardio workout, cuz the new younger guys on the force are quite persistant. other than that, i will continue my diet of Mcdoubles and Spicy chicken sandwiches from Wendys _________________ Lanexa VA |

M: Chest/Back day
Dumbbell inclines, Pec Deck (the fly machine style for all you pec dec machine haters), pull overs, low rows, lat pull downs
W: Leg Day
Deadlift, Inner Thigh, Outer Thigh
OR
Squats, Leg Curls
OR
One Legged Leg Presses, RDL (aka straight legged deadlifts)
F: Shoulders / Arms day
Shrugs, Shoulder Press, Tricep extensions and bicep curls as a super-set, another bicep and tricep workout of my choosing also done in a super-set
Every other exercise is done as a drop set (to failure where you drop the weight at least 3 times to make yourself allowed to do more reps). Since I do every other, the opposite exercises are done as a drop set the next week (kept on a rotation).
For machine exercises, the type of bar and grip is modified every week so that I engage the muscles in a slightly different way every day. 8 weeks from now I'll be on a different routine.
This would be a good starting point for someone looking to dabble in some weight training over the winter. I can tell you right now if you eat right, you'll get results
This isn't really "off-season" stuff for me though, this is what I do year round. I guess the only thing that I do that is truly off season is snowboard, but I don't like it nearly as much as wakeboarding. Hard pack is, well, hard - and snowboarding is a lot more hassle, throw on a ton more gear just to be able to deal with the elements. I'll take wakeboarding on a gorgeous summer day anytime. _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before. |

Looks fun to play with for a while but im guessing it gets boring after a while? Would probably imitate wake surfing pretty well. I miss wakeboarding already, 4-5 months to go until the ice leaves. _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before. |

I actually started a total-body weightlifting workout that I do 3 times a week. Then I have 3 days of cardio in between and one day to rest and stretch. Chose this route because I'm not looking to work specific areas or get concentrated growth/definition. I'm looking more for the toning, weight loss, and overall general fitness so hopefully this will be a good plan. Key is staying on the horse.
Like Wakeboarder3780 said, if I stick with it and eat different there is no way I will NOT see results. _________________

sounds like a great program pet. 6 days a week is quite brutal, but if you can keep up with it you'll certainly see results. If you start feeling burnt out and want to give up dial back the number of days you're working out so you get more rest. Something is always better than nothing and you'd see results even if you dialed it back, in fact you can make *gains* working out twice a week if you have high enough intensity.
Hope it works out for you! _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before. |

Quite literally the only reason I'm down about 40lbs from this summer and DO have a 6-pack. Only thing I've done is change my diet from fast food 3-4 times a week (often consisting of $8 off the McD's dollar menu) to 2-3 times a month (usually drunk). That's it. Still an alcoholic. Still eat [mostly] whatever I want. Still avoid the gym like the plague.
Someone should make a documentary about the effect a McDonald's only diet has on your body, metabolism, and energy levels. Call it something like "Pass the Big Mac" or, better yet, "Supersize Me." I think I'm onto something here. _________________ "I'm scared if I stop drinking all at once, the cumulative hangover will literally kill me." |

I'm running atleast a mile every 4 to 5 days a week and doing P90X plus a ~1600 calorie diet, trying to get back to where I was a couple years ago before summer. It's been tough, body doesn't metabolize like it used to. _________________ '05 Supra Launch 24SSV |

| I've been doing some weight lifting and high calorie eating for a couple months, up 25 pounds which is quite the feat for being so tall and having a ridiculously high metabolism. Eating 5-6kCal a day, time for a In-n-Out run. |
