|
|
Been riding with my buddy who's training to make his comeback on the pro tours. Progressed more in one month with him than i have in 4 years of riding. landed scarecrow and backroll to revert in one day only to break my fibula down by my ankle when I threw it that weekend in front of my wife and family. 3 weeks down 3 weeks to go before I can even walk. First broken bone and I hope I never get one again.
Kinda scared to go back to spinning inverts again when I get back on a board. I know I've heard of people breaking ankles on simple backrolls but I think chances are far more increased when you add a spin to an invert. Think I'm gonna stick to one or the other...dunno. |

surferbum2184, damn dude, how'd it happen? You come up too short or go too long? The landing on a crow should be easier than a front-roll. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Damn dude
I learned the crow not that long ago and I never thought of it as a particularly dangerous trick. I guess anything can be dangerous if you land wrong. Good luck and take care of yourself. _________________ rally to the wake |

| cased it. landed on top of the wake and upper body had to have still been coming forward on impact. just found that out yesterday when talking with my wife about it trying to figure out where went wrong. I know exactly where I went wrong too. I have only been riding at 7am with glass water with my buddy. I have been riding for the ride. only thing on my mind is me and my board. Well my wife came out with her dad his gf her bro his gf and some friends after my buddy left. Water wasn't great but I thought hey i'll throw a few tricks & we'll go surfing. hit my 180's, grabs, hs fs 3, backroll, and went for the scarecrow when I shoulda just gone for frontroll since I'd just learned the crow. Needless to say I was trying to show off. Last time I every try and showboat. |

| on a good note i have 3 weeks before I can walk in boot. 2 weeks after that I'm out of boot and 3 more weeks I start snowboard season. little happy that it happened in the transitional period b/w wake & snow. only hard thing is I do landscape/lawncare/weed control for a living but thank the good Lord I have an unemployed bro-in-law who has been running the labor side of the business. |

Wow man, you have a great attitude. Nice to see you're keeping things in perspective. I would probably be freaking out in your situation. _________________ rally to the wake |

That sucks man. Try not to make any decisions about how to limit your tricks until you get out again. Drink up lots of skim milk in the mean time and hit the gym and stack some muscle. You'll feel unstoppable by next season.
Well maybe not. But you know what I mean I know what you mean about hitting it in the transition period. I'd go nuts if it were mid season for either sport.
My advice would be lock your spins down, lock your inverts down. Then start with the mobes. But what do i know. _________________ Today is a chance to become a greater person than the person we were the day before. |

it definately sucks and a few times I'd get down and depressed but would always make myself think could always be worse. there are people that do this their whole lives one leg or no legs. def makes me grateful to be a healthy human being that gets to enjoy extreme sports and pretty much life to the fullest.
about week 3 I did get sick of COD and about lost it going stir crazy with cabin fever. Was able to drive truck around this week and ride ztr around which helped get my juices flowing.
definately helps that the indian nation covered my surgery saving me $3,000 on my deductible. |

Dang bro. Femur? I heard that's the hardest bone to break in the body and the most painful to endure.
Really that bad in snowboard boots? I have 3 friends with 1-2 ankles broke and never hear them complain about ankle in boots when riding. I hope that's the case with me.
That x-ray is sick...looks like someone had a heyday with a nailgun. I have plate and 4 screws in. Ugh that looks rough man. Def makes me realize could be worse... |
