Tolerance for prop shaft out of round

Well this weekend sucked. Decided to bounce my v-drive off a rock ledge in the river. Anyone know what the tolerance generally is for prop shafts. Infront of the strut it's dead straight. At the the cotter pin hole, it's 10 thousandth out. Don't know what it it where the prop is pressed on because I need to get a puller. But that is about two inches closer to the strut. I couldn't reach Tige in time today, so I'm going to try again tomorrow if I can sneak out of my meetings with my boss.

I'm not sure and it depends on the make and model of your boat, we accidently ran out MC onto shore at speed one winter because the water was abnormally low, we didnt get any wobble or vibrations on the way home and havnt had any problems since. I would definelty contact tige and send some pictures before putting it back in the water imo

If you can raise your boat out of the water, or just have it on trailer, and put your boat in gear then there should be a dot on the shaft that you can watch. If it is wobbling there, then you might have a problem. If the dot looks like it's staying motionless, you should be in the clear.

Also, it sounds like your prop moved? Having a hard time picturing from your description. You said something about "2 inches closer," don't know if you meant that your impact moved it

Generall .002"-.004" is good. Not sure what the absolute upper limit is but .010" would concern me.

Well the marina has had the boat for two days now. As we thought, prop is trashed, also sheared the keyway on the shaft, bent the shaft, bent the strut, big gash in the gel coat above the prop, and now the motor is going to have to be removed to replace the strut as it is nut and bolted through the hull and nuts are below the motor. Guess my season is over. All was done from an impact of 8mph

damn, been threw that already this year. cost me $2 grand and two weeks. but i didnt have any gel coat damage. and my motor didnt need to be removed. i suspect neither does yours....

Man that sucks. When you run rivers it bound to happen sometime though. On my old Supra a wrecked two props and one shaft in the same summer. Luckily I never bent the strut or did any gel damage so I was always back on the water in a couple days. Hopefully they get you back together quick.
