RONIX ONE 2011 LARGER SIZE HELP PLS.

Hi guys,

Im 6.3 200-210 lbs .... should i be going with the 142 or 146 ATR ?

I keep getting suggested one or the other . Unfortunately i don't have the opportunity to try them . Have tried the 2011 Ibex in 144 and it felt right. What would the pros and cons be for each size and what should i be paying for this in the closeout sales ?

For your weight range you would work on both sizes which is why you are getting both as responses. Judging by your Newbie rating I assume you are so you would want to go with the smaller board. It will give you more control.

Man I say ride the biggest board that you can keep on edge. I'm 6'4 200lbs I won't ride anything smaller than a 144. I thank Ronix for making a pro model board in a size tall guys can rip on. Something I always try to keep in mind is stance width. For tall guys that starts to shrink the smaller the board. A wider stance will make edging, landing and board control feel more stable. Even a half inch increase in stance width can make all the difference in the world. I say the One 146, but they are both great boards. You're a big guy, you are going to be able to control any BIG board in the air. A 144 is a huge board to all of my friends but feels normal to me.

As far as pros and cons go the smaller Ibex is actually wider than the One, so it has the same or more surface area as the longer One 146. More surface area is going to make landings softer and probally more pop with less edge. Shorter boards have less swing weight when doing spins and such in the air.

The longer boards are going to give you a wider and more stable riding position (especially for the tall guys). A better riding stance is going to help with edging and more control on landings.

For years I rode CWB Maruis 140, it is a shorter board but super wide with tons of pop. Problem for me was the stance width. Landings were always very sketchy It was like I was on a skateboard. I'm now riding the one 146 and absolutely love it.

Go with the "regular" One 146 over the ATR version. ATR will be more expensive do to the bottom made for sliders and rails and such. Unless of coarse your hitting sliders and rails.

Thanks very much for that ! I had heard that the ATRS had a little more pop than the regular ONE and probably last a little longer . Happy to pay a little more for a board that i can use for a few years.

Given u are pretty much the same size as me you have def helped make up my mind on that account.

Thanks for that . Yeah ive been kiteboarding for about 5 yrs and spent a lot of time wakeboarding about 10yrs ago so im pretty comfortable on most boards.
Took the 144 ibex out and that felt like the right size so im hoping the 146 is going to work out.

Id go with the 146. I'm only 165-170 lbs and I ride the 46. The one is a notoriously small-feeling board, most riders go up a size in that shape. Plus going up a size really compliments that particular board's shape and riding style. The One takes a very mellow, surfy turn, and picks up speed once fully on edge, so having a bigger, wider board really works well if you're riding the way that board was intended to ride. If you go with a smaller size the board will take a quick, darty turn and drag more on edge, and for boards like the ibex which is designed to ride like that it may be one thing, but for the one to work like it was intended a big size works just fine.

I'm 6', 170-175 and I ride the 142. IMO go with the 146 for sure.

I'm 6'3" and 205lb myself. I have a 142 and am thinking about going bigger, it just doesn't feel right to me. If I had access to a cable park I would probably stick with the 142. I ride a 160 snowboard which is by Burton's charts too small, but it's easier to throw tricks on.

So I'd say a 144 or 146.
