|
|
Ok, so here is my problem. I can get up fine and I have snowboarded for a long time so I know how to carve fine, but once I am up it feels like there is a lot of drag and it makes it difficult to hold on to the rope after a while. Im sure I am going fast enough, do you think I need to not lean back as much? also should my arms be straight once I am up or bent?
Any suggestions would be great. |

| Not an expert by any means, but I do know you want to keep ur arms slightly bent. You could try shifting weight forward and see if that helps. |

Couple of things can cause this to happen.
1. Boarding to slow. Speed the boat up.
2. Breaking at the waist. Stand up over your board.
3. Board to small. Try and new board and see how it feels.
4. Weight distribution. Rear foot heavy. Try a 45%55% weight distribution with your feet. Don't lean foward just apply more weight on your foward foot. Once your comfortable you can put almost all your weight foward without sinking the board. |

+1 on what FunkyBunch suggested.
Also, to your question about arm position: typically, you will have your arms slightly bent, but the key is to keep the handle low and near your lead hip. It certainly doesn't need to be plastered to your hip, but keeping it low will help with #2 in FunkyBunch's post. Definitely stand tall, keeping just a little more weight on your back foot. Best of luck to you! |

I know it's taken me about a month to get used to wakeboarding for any reasonable length of time. My arms were just killing me for days after 10-15 minutes when I started, now I can run a couple of half-hour sets and feel fine the next day.
Different muscles than I normally use I guess. |
