Both have open bow and are similar price. The 205 has less hours. Me and hubby are old time skiers but kids want to wakeboard and learn to surf. We are planning on selling our MB skier for something more usable. Would one throw a better wake with less weight. We might install a ballast down the road but not at first. Thanks

Pro Star for sure. Same hull as the original X-Star. The VRS is a good family boat (it's a maristar right?) but doesn't throw a great wake for ski or wake.

Honestly, I'd pass on both, and try to find a 1996 or newer ProStar 205. They totally redid the hull in '96 to the one that intotheflats mentions. I think the 94 is identical to the ps190, only longer. That hull didn't have much freeboard, so you can't add much weight.

If you are absolutely set on those two boats, I would probably go with the 200 vrs. Those 205's are quite tight space wise inside.

I have a 94 205 and yea the hull is a bit different than my 06 X1 but with the right amount of weight you can get a nice wake from the 94.

We ran 1800lbs in the back, and 500 up front

Wake was nice and ive seen ts 9s landed behind it, so.....

Thanks for the feedback. We are not set on either boat. Actually my husband wants to wait until winter to buy a boat as the deals would be better. I am the impatient one-ha I know its best to wait until the right one comes along because we will probably have it for the next ten or so years.

The 1995 Sport Nautique is still a contender but he is asking 15K and it has 750 hours and no ballast. I think for that much we could probably find a v-drive with some auto ballast.
