2010 Glastron GT 205 with a FACTORY installed Roswell wake air tower....

1.5 yrs old and I have these on all 4 mounting feet to the hull.

Needless to say, I am not a happy camper and am fighting with Glastron because this is their fault for improper installation. The tower has ONLY been used for wakeboarding, I don't tube nor waterski. I gained access to the rear mounting brackets and they are the tiniest things I have ever seen and no wonder why I am getting the stress cracks. Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't chamfer the drilled holes either. I won't know for sure till I bring it into get a repair quote tomorrow, and find out whether or not Glastron will pick up the tab for their errors.

that stinks! I know that you went with a tower that was customized specifically for your boat too. Is that boat a year old yet? Keep us posted on what happens.

I've about had it with Glastron at this point, wasn't able to get it up to the fiberglass shop today. Had some severe thunderstorms rolling through all day... I'm close to asking my dealer to broker it for me at the winter boat show and go buy a winch since I can never seem to find calm water.

I love my boat don't get me wrong, just the quality I am finding is not even close to a nice ski boat. NO ONE in my area has the exact same one. The other GT 205's i've seen have the normal windshield or blue/black in color. Who knows, I'll see what happens tomorrow when I hopefully can get it looked at.

yea, i would not put glastron quality on par with any of the top 3 ski boat manufactures.

If they are just surface stress cracks, they will not do any damage.

If you are looking for a high quality IO try Cobalt or Regal.

This will be my last IO ever... I only bought it because I thought I couldn't use a V-drive on my local lakes due to the bottom structure and abundance of rocky shallow shoals. I went with a Glastron because it has a VEC hull with no wooden stringers and a limited lifetime warranty, and prior good experience with them. I also didn't want someone elses used headaches so I bought a new boat in a comfortable price range since I also needed to buy a truck as well to tow it. Well at this point, the $28K I spent on this one I would have rather of found a babied ski boat.

The fiberglass repair shop said they aren't anything significant and told me to just continue using my boat till the end of the summer and bring it back before winter, but will submit the quote to my dealer and see what happens.

3MileBayWaker, Certainly not great that you're seeing these cracks.

But at the same time, you can't really ask for top 3 ski boat brand quality on a boat that cost a third of the price.

The cracks look superficial to me, should be a straight forward fix which should be taken care of under warranty. Does the tower move or flex?

Everything is tight on the tower, no squeaks...but yes in rough water I can see the tower moving and flexing. I shook it real hard while on the trailer one day and can see the the actual hull moving very slightly. I am thinking its because the tiny backing plates are allowing the flex to resonate and become worse.

I am still waiting to hear back what if anything is going to be covered before I go ahead and start trying to beef up the backing plates but I'll also take some photos to show how terrible a job they did.

I have heard talk over the past few years that this technology is prone to spider cracking in the gelcoat even on boats with no tower. I've seen a few of those "nightmare threads" discussing it posted up by Glastron owners. I'm not claiming to be in the know or to be an expert on this-just throwing it out there that I've heard this to be a known problem with VEC.
