That'a the Pedernales river (at least I'm pretty sure). It's like the best riding unless it looks like that ^^^ It is definitely hot as balls out here right now JT, like a million days over hundred in a row now

yup, that's the perd. you can see the same bridge in the first pic i posted in the still of the video. thread title should have been "how dry is texas right now?" but you get the idea.

and yeah, the days over 100 degrees is pretty ridiculous. july is one thing, but june had something like 25 days over 100, twice what we had in our hottest previous year - 13 in 2008(9?). it's like an oven, every single day. have to get your outdoor stuff taken care of before 10am or your getting scorched.

Dallas is on day number 21 in a row (if it hits 100 today) of 100+ temps, though I think we're well over 30 for the summer. This heat has seriously had an impact on my desire to go to the lake. There's not much I want to do but stay inside in the cool A/C.

I was 12 years old during the summer of 1980 when Dallas had 69 days of 100+ temps with 42 of them in a row. My mother was a single mom working two jobs back then and she wouldn't let us turn on the A/C because it would cost too much. That was one of the most brutal summers of my life. There was no such thing as the internet, we had a 9" black & white TV that got 4 channels, and we didn't have a pool or any other type of entertainment.... just a hot house and an even hotter back yard.

My kids have no idea how good they have it.... an XBOX, a WII, a 50" flat screen TV, a wakeboard boat, AIR CONDITIONING..... Shocked

Definitely don't envy the drought you guys are having down that way.
? - What's the humidity levels like in Dallas and Austin since there hasn't been any rain? I know hot is hot but we're getting the occasional t-storm so the humidity levels are make it even more miserable. I feel like I moved to Florida instead of Ohio... 95F with 60% humidity making it feel like 109F.

Nauty, I grew up in Atlanta in a house with no central AC - Dad put window units in the den and their bedroom, but even those were used sparingly. We had a big-ass attic fan that could draw air from any part of the house which at least kept air moving. I used to sleep on the floor in my doorway to be closer to it.

To this day, I am more tolerant of heat than most. I actually dislike coming in from the heat to someplace where the AC is cranked. (I also dislike coming in from very cold to the heat cranked - I guess I'm more tolerant of temperature than changes in temp.)

Still - this heat is a bit much. When the lake water gets so warm that you can't cool off by jumping in...

boardordie, on a scale of horrible moistness to complete dryness, it would go something like houston > austin > dallas > phoenix

Man!! Those are some horrible pictures. You guys can have some of our water. Most of our lakes and reservoirs are at full capacity after the winter and spring we had. In fact, I was up at Lake Tahoe last week and the water level there is at a historic high, just below flood stage with more snow melting everyday. I feel for you guys. Droughts suck!!

Im in northern ohio and it hit 98 degrees, we were on the water all day, but it was not the best conditions because the water hit 90 degrees for the first time since I could ever remember, its nice to usually jump into 75-80 degree water to cool off!

OK has been hot too. Just got the June 15 - July 15 electric bill to prove it...LOL! We were at 25 or so days of 100+ before we left on our trip. Yellowstone and other parts of WY were a refreshing break from the heat.

How come we have weeks of aburd temp and there is no mention of global warming, but a couple of days of cold/snow and everyone is screaming the climate change is BS.

that is definately cool if you can jump into 75 dgr water temp to cool off in that 110 air temp, but how many lakes are like that in Texas?
