|
|
I'm starting to think I am struggling a bit toe side because my trailing foot almost always drags in the water making me feel awkward. I have a pair of XXL CWB CT Answer bindings which are a size 13-14 and a 2009 Liquid force trip 142cm. I have this same issue with my snowboards, I have to ride a wide board, but I don't think I have seen any wakeboards which can accommodate my larger bindings better and open toes just plain suck.
I ride the widest possible and at 20* duck footed which is very comfortable for me at 6'3", I'm also 200lbs.
Both sides of the bindings are degree'd properly, but I feel they just sit way too far forward on the toe side of my board, and when I try to ride centered over the board, I feel like I am leaning over the toe side edge.
That just doesn't seem right to me, almost like its a poor design for the larger binding. With my XL Ride EX snowboard bindings I am able to completely center my boots with a rear adjustment and eliminate the toe drag and completely center myself.
How are you guys with big feet combating this issue? I really feel its impairing my progression on learning to control my toe side edge ( along with terrible boat traffic wakes which I can't control) _________________ 2010 Glastron GT 205XL ( Volvo 4.3L GL-J)

Im size 12, I dont have this problem on my boards luckily, but do see what you mean.
Would it be possible to reduce the degrees you're ducked out at, to 15 or so, then move the bindings down.
So it would be about 20 on the outside, and 10 on the inside or something like that. It may balance things out for you. That would give you an extra centimeter maybe. |

Wow, I don't think I've seen bindings sit that far over to one edge before. I think Obsessed has a pretty good idea, however, to play with the angle some to see if you can get a little extra room.
I'm pretty sure the board should be set up for 6" plates, like your bindings have. If nothing else, you may want to try a different set of bindings on it, possibly LF to have brand similarity, just to see if this makes any difference. |

| If your willing to change boards you may be able to find a solution. as much as i dont care for CWB they make a higher end board the Marius which is VERY wide and would probably not yeild the same issue. |

That Trip's a great board. My G/F rides the 138 and loves it.
Take a closer look at your bindings and how they're mounted on the board. You should try to center them more "over" the board by sliding them back towards the heelside a little bit. Play with the angles and positions and I think you'll be able to solve it.
Also, at 6'3" you probably want to use the furthest most mounting holes. I'm the same height and I like my stance out nice and wide. |

| Hey bud I feel your pain, I'm 6'4 200 lbs. I've solved that problem with the CWB Marius and 2010 ronix Frank boot. The boot is 13/14 XXL and I have yet to notice any toe drag! Hope that helps! |

1. It looks like your board is setup really toeside heavy, so your solution might be to try and center the boots on the board more rather than have them pushed towards the toeside edge like they seem to be in the photo.
2. Try to adjust your edge techniqe a bit/ practice toeside edging more.
In any case, if your toes are dragging enough to cause you a problem, there's at least one of those two options that need to be fixed. I've been riding with the largest bindings I could find (size 13 foot) pretty much the entire time I've been wakeboarding and never have had a major issue. Even though my toes will occasionally drag a bit, it's usually me being lazy on my edging technique. |

This. Your problem is your toes are almost hanging over the edge of that board and have tons of space on the heelside edge. You need to move those bindings towards the heelside more. If you can't adjust those bindings you should get new ones. That's an unacceptable riding position and you're going to have major toe drag no matter your technique.
Getting a wider board will help for larger feet. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |
