|
|
So last season I learned a tantrum. Throughout the course of the 3 weeks where i was trying them over and over my forearm tendon really started to bother me. I started wearing one of those arm straps, ice and ibuprofin, and push through it. I also made matters worse by working out 3 times a week in addition to wakeboarding.
Totally thought it was just from overuse.
Fast forward a year. I had a trainer put together a low impact workout for my tendons. Then we bought a house so i couldn't even get into the gym for a month. Then I started trying tantrums again and already after the first 2 days of trying them my forearm is fired up again to the point where i have to stop throwing them.
Is this normal? Does anyone else's lead forearm get really sore when throwing a lot of tantrums?
The only thing i can do to stop the pain is stop throwing tantrums and ride switch. After it gets fired up even riding regular seems to aggravate it a bit.

I'm in your exact situation right now except the pain started with backrolls. Seem to be getting yanked when I land. Get pain in my upper forearm inner elbow and lower bicep area. I'm trying to strengthen with rubber band exercises but idk how much that will help. I really don't wanna stop riding

| Weird, you must be doing something wrong technique-wise, it shouldn't hurt. Any chance you have a video or something to help give us a better idea of what you're doing?

| Dont overdue it! I tend to get forearm pain when I attempt to hold on to the handle on landings that are not clean and the handle goes shooting out of my hand. Tricks like the tantrum and sometimes the backroll you are landing with one hand on the handle and if you do not have a clean landing it can put a lot of stress on the forearm. Let it rest until it feels better. Next time you try the trick take it easy by only trying it a couple of times per set and if you are not landing clean make sure you let go. I know this can be hard when you really want to land it but it will save you in the long run. Also make sure you stretch before and after riding.

I get tendon pain in my elbow/bicep/forearm from wakeboarding - not specifically tantrums. I think it has to do all the stress you put on your arm by the rope. If you focus on keeping the handle in on landings and not letting your arm stretch all the way out, so all of the force is pulling on that tendon it helps.

| I used to get very bad pain in my left elbow when I was first landing tantrums. It came down to trying to hold onto the rope on a not so perfect landing and getting yanked on that one arm. I remember a couple years ago someone came up with a design that basically added a couple feet of ski rope between the wakeboard rope and the handle to allow for a little more stretch when you land one handed and get yanked when trying to pull off a sketchy landing.
