I've wakeboarded on and off for a few years. I ride a 2008 ronix one. It has the normal 1.0 fins on it and I'm looking into switching to the ronix .8s. What's the difference in slider or ramp style of fins? I don't ride cable parks at all
Slider fins are plastic and will be flat on the bottom essentially. I hadn't seen any of these before until this past weekend. A guy I met had a new Ronix Bill with slider fins on it. They were probably 0.5 to 0.75" and had a flat surface about 0.25" wide along the edge of the fin. This prevents the fin from digging into the material of a slider/kicker/etc and causing damage to the obstacle or causing the board to catch and veer in any direction.
Slider fins are essentially like detuning the edge on your snowboard. They make sense for park riding, but if you never ride obstacles, regular fins will most likely perform better. Hope this helps.
