| We have one local boat dealer and the only wakeboard boat they sale is Tige. I have never ridden behind one or even in one, but I never see comments on that type of boat. I'm not interested in buying one either, just wondering if anyone has one and what your comments will be about them. I have an older ski nautique 2001 that i love, but would like to upgrade to a newer boat in the next few years. probably leaning towards a bigger nautique.....air nautique or crossover, malibu, or supra. i like to slalom and wakeboard so i want something that works for both. and i'll definitley be keeping the nautique 2001 too. |

Is there a question in here somewhere?
My thoughts on Tige, probably good boats, but MY OPINION is they are butt ugly. Never found one I thought looked good. I like Nautiques, Malibu's, Supras, and the occasional Epic. |

Something I never see are postings on how the wake is on their new models? I also have never ridden behind a Tige or even ridden in one. I think they have really stepped up in terms of style and features the last few years. I would just like to see more real world info/pictures about the wakes. _________________ 2010 Watson Hybrid

I rode behind one last summer and really liked it. I can't remember what model it was exactly but it was definitely one of the shorter ones. It threw a pretty nice wake, a little too much lip for me at first but I got used to it. Overall I thought it was a solid boat. Also I ride normally behind a Bayliner Capri so take this review at your own discretion. _________________

I like Tiges, I have ever since they came out with their v-drive versions. I dont know if things have changed over the years, but back in the early 2k's I rode behind a 21v RE and a 22i RE a bit and loved both of them. They had super solid wakes.
I was only let down they never had factory ballast available. I don't know if that has changed in the newer models though.
They were also wood stringers back then. I don't know if that has changed. There are some strong feelings on both sides of the fence regarding wood construction. I don't care either way though.
However, If you are keeping your ski nautique, why not get an all-out wakeboard boat? Doesn't make sense to me to have a 100% top grade slalom boat and a 70% wakeboard boat that transforms to a 70% slalom boat. That makes sense to me if you just had one boat, but 2? Pick the best of both worlds, you already have one. I get it those Nautiques are so killer, they grow attached to you. I have known a dozen people in the same "boat." |

If Tiges were reasonably priced I think they'd be an option. However, they run really close to what the big boys charge (Nautique, MasterCraft, Malibu). For the same money I would choose Supra, or I even like Sanger better for cheaper.
I've just never been impressed. Between the marketing gimmick that TAPS was (no ballast tanks), the pointy edge on the R22 I rode on a few years ago (couldn't step on the gunnels). I haven't seen anything that really differentiates them. Their towers seem to be consistently uglier, etc. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

This is just my impression from what I have seen on line, so take this with a big grain of salt. Tige seems to focus on edgy styling and innovative creature comforts. I'm not sure how much focus Tige has really put on producing a top notch wake. I have not seen any pictures of a slammed wake behind any of the newer tiges that have impressed me. I'm not saying those boats don't make great wakes - maybe they do. However, I have also not exactly heard of folks raving about the RZ4, RZ2 or RZR wakes. Not like what I hear abou the X1, VLX, LSV, A22, XStar and 210 wakes.
If boarding is a big priority, just go demo the boats, take some pictures, and do a good writeup for us. However, for comparison's sake, go demo a loaded up 210, A22, VLX and/or X1 too. I'd be interested in the feedback. |

Owning an older Tige (2001 23v) I actually love the taps on it. We load ours down with 1000# in the rear lockers (500 on each side) and 600# up front and dial the taps between 2 and 6 depending on whose riding. but the wakes pretty clean with our ballast setup. Originally Tige thought they could get away with the taps system only but that changed quickly. Their new boats come with a few different ballast options. I cant vouch for the Z1, RZR, Rz2, or RZ4, but the 22ve throws a good wake and i love the 24ve's wake, its big and clean, You can also slam that boat and the wake is still clean tho it is a big boat. Its just my personal preference but i like the taps better than the wedge and that thing that nautige puts on their boats. Mastercraft now has a wake plate on theirs. _________________ Rider: "Howd that last trick look?"

RZ4 = best surf wake I've ever seen. We double surfed it (one on each side and both sides were equally good) Also had two people surfing the port side wake, one farther back and one close to the wake. I've never seen a boat that can do that. Just rode behind one last week. It was a nice boat, inside very clean and one of the best dash boards I've ever seen. The stock speakers are wet sounds, we all know they are probably the best speaker on the market these days. All in all, the new Tiges have it figured out for sure.
The wakeboard wake was well, it was xstarish which I'm not a big fan of. Some people like that though. _________________ Don't do anything rash.....and don't do anything to get a rash... |
