So, my dad is gonna buy a boat in the next month and needs some input. We live in jupiter fl so were going to need something that we can take out in deep water fishing and diving (has spots for tanks and fishing rods) and other such activities, which are all cool and everything but what I really care about is riding. Its a mastercraft which a lot of people say are over rated, but its 26 foot long, great in deep water, has everything my family wants. Im just trying to save them some money and see if there is a better alternative that is similar and has the same abilities but throws up a nice wake and has all the necessary elements of a strictly wake boat (speed control without messing with a throttle, a setting for wake surfing). Basically I want a wake boat, but we need the other stuff too. The other option would be buying two boats but that is money wise out of the question. Im not an amazing wake rider but I can throw the stock tricks as well as the occasional heel 7, but have never ridden behind my own boat and would not like to be pissed about a small wake, even though at 26 ft its a big boat. Any input would be great, if there is a better alternative boat to the master craft that would be great, as I have ridden behind a master craft x star (ok) and then my buddies less expensive air nautique with some fat sacks and had a much better time including a better shaped and larger wake. SO let me know, really interested and my pops seems to want buy one sooner than later.

I have no personal experience with the CSX. At 26' you're going to need a lot of weight in there, and it's going to suck down gas.

Honestly, I would probably look at 2 boats. If you're planning on spending over $100k for a CSX, you could spend $25k on a decent wakeboat and the rest on something specific for oceangoing. I don't know how the numbers at up, but it seems like ~$135k would give you plenty of room for 2 boats.

I was thinking the same thing... I would get a nice open center consle for fishing... and a wake speceifc boat!!! Provided the money is there.

Wakebrad and chawk610, summed up my thoughts. Get a decent used wakeboard boat for under $30K and a separate offshore center console or carolina style boat.

While I am a fan of the CSX 220, I agree with Wakebrad, chawk610, and Nor*Cal on this situation. The CSX 265 isn't going to be a great wake specific boat, and while it is certainly a very nice center console, I suspect that you might be able to get something comparable for less to offset the cost of a wake specific boat.

has anyone actually ridden behind this boat??? i wouldn't discount the boat until you've ridden behind it. having two boats would be a bit of a pain so if you can kill two birds with one stone i say go for it

I haven't ridden behind the 265, but I based my opinion on the X-80 which is a similiarly sized Mastercraft. That said, I actually really like the CSX 220's wake, so I could be wrong, but the hulls on the 220 and the 265 look totally different.

I debated this delemma myself for a long time.
I had a 08 Sanger V210 and needed something to fish and dive from.
I came so close to buying a center console with an outboad and keeping the Sanger.

I used to have 2 different types of streetbikes, and every time i was on one, i wished i was riding the other. And i figured the same thing woukd happen with the boats.

So i bought the CSX220 last week.
I know most peeps dont like them. They are a very nitched marketed boat.

That's the X-25 hull right? I'd be interested to see what the wake is like. I like the layout of the X-25 but don't usually like the wakes behind the bigger wider boats on the market these days.

Really nice CSX there. You will not be unhappy with the wake and if you decide to add more than the factory ballast you will LOVE it.
