when I go to lower or raise the prop the hydraulic lift seems sluggish and weak, are there any DIY things I can try to get it up to snuff again? _________________ ☆PHOENIX WINCH☆

beside the engine. some are on the left, and some are on the right. usually their is no dipstick, just a reservoir. most of them can use auto tranny fluid. but check with the outdrive manufacturer. (mercruiser, omc, volvo, and yamaha)
you can also check out www.iboats.com their forum is awesome for diy info.[/url] |

Usually they are mounted on the floor on either side of the engine pretty close to the transom. It will have an electric motor on top of a usually tan reservoir. Its clear. there should be a full line on it so check where your fluid level is compared to the line. If its below, add power/trim fluid. If you do have to add, lower and raise it completely several times to get the air out of the system. _________________ Rider: "Howd that last trick look?"

Im not sure about I/O but do know about outboards. I expect them to be similar.
As the others said, you need to fill the reservoir.
You should then bleed it, there should be a manual release screw which will lower the outdrive, open this screw a bit to lower the out drive, once its down, close it, and trim up all the way, then repeat by opening the screw again.
Just trimming up and down is not the best way to bleed, again I know about outboards, I hope what I said applies. |

thanks again, the resevoir is directly behind the engine on the wall, it was bone dry, I filled it and it sounds and moves good now, it's all black and you cant see the fill level but I tested with a few q-tips _________________ ☆PHOENIX WINCH☆
