| Hi guys, just joined after reading posts on here all last summer. Last year was my first on a wakeboard and i LOVE it. Getting my own gear for this summer and wondering about the setup. I can get a good deal on a Ronix Vault....is that a good board to learn on. i can land jumps, 180s, and ride both reg and goofy but want more pop. Any help is much appreciated |

Its very personal. Every person is going to give you a different answer. I've ridden about a half dozen boards myself. I use a Byerly Monarch. SUPER lightweight and lands soft on my old knees.
I like the pop of a Ronix One as well but it has an aggressive 3-stage rocker that makes the landing hurt much more. If you're young you probably don't care but with my bad knees I certainly do.

Thanks for the feedback. I actually did some more research and went with a hyperlite b-side. From what I've read ppl seem to like it, it has good pop, and should let me progress along well. Don't know if I'm quite ready for the ONE, maybe next year(though I'm 34 so maybe I should start worrying about my knees lol). |

Haven't ridden the B-side but I have ridden a couple of other Hyperlites and have always liked them in general.
I'm 33 but my knees are 63. One lands hard, that's the only reason I don't like it.

Let's set straight first that you're not going to find THE board for perfect "POP". What you're going to find is a board that works well for you and your style, how you approach the wake, and the way you like to do your tricks. People misuse the term pop a lot and I can guarantee that in almost any marketing material, that's all you'll hear about. Pop is not a magical thing that a board contains, it's how you work with your board to get the most energy out of wake.
With that said, the B-side, although i've never ridden it myself, seems like a really well-rounded shape and I definitely think you can't go wrong there (from the photos it kinda reminds me of the old premier shape a bit, which I LOVED). The blended 3-stage rocker will be great for you if you're on the beginning side of things (vs. say, an abrupt 3-stage rocker that takes a little more effort to master) and gives you the best of both worlds. Good choice!
Once you get some experience on this board, try riding a pure 3 stage board and a pure continuous board and note the differences, as you get better you'll learn characteristics you like and don't like about each. |

Ya I hear what you're saying, at the end of the day there's no magic board and it's up to you to get better and progress.
I've talked to a lot of people, and they all say that the 3 stage rocker is also harder on landings. I'm pretty happy with my choice I think, and the Ronix Kai boots seem to fit awesome. Can't wait for the weather to get nicer!!!
