man should have stayed home today.

Part 1: rollers
Skiers alley was friggin packed. all jet skis and tubers. water was a nightmare. i dont understand why they all come to the one patch of good water on the lake. arg!

Part 2: the crash
was on my first set probly 30-40 minutes in or so. a boat comes out of a cove, and we cross behind him at about a 45* angle. i decide to cut out and jump/ollie its wake as we cross it. i hit the second roller and get a HUGE 4'-5' pop i wasnt expecting. made the mistake of looking down...i start to go over the front... by the time i hit the water my body was parrallel to it and shoulder and front tip of board faceing straight down. the tip of the board hits first and of course accellerates my body and i hit the water forehead first. knocked me whoozy good. i couldnt move, open my eyes, or talk and could barely breath. i didnt know where i was, i kept asking that over and over. i still cant remember any of my ride before that, and i still dont remember anything after for awile. but i do remember every second of the crash.

Part 3: the gash
well since i was semi "not there", audrey lassoed the rope around me and i could hear her saying to grab it so she pulled me in. well with my eyes closed and slightly immobile, the board hit the gel coat and put a nice gash in it. 3 month old boat Sad . not her fault she saved my ass. i still have no clue how i got in the boat or any recollection of the following 15-20 minutes laying in the boat floor.
ive started useing polishing compound on it. but its not gonna cut it. gonna have to do the full wet sand smooth proccess to get this one out. and now the gel is hazy around it where the polishing compound "scratched" it.

Part 4: the stump
after we had each riden twice. we were gonna take a 15 minute break at the sand bar just up from skiers alley. well the lake is already SUPER low. no rain at all this year. stumps showing everywere and docs all up on the rocks. well came across a shallow part and hit a submersed stump. bent up the prop real good. lots of vibes. we idled back and loaded up.
on the way home we stoped by a local prop shop and they pulled the prop for me so i can send it to Nettle. it will become my backup and ill get a acme ordered tonight to help with the added ballast.

arg what a shitty day. should have stayed in bed. im sure ill wake up tommorrow with a hell of a headache and sore all over.

Jesus dude, that's awful. Take care of your head because concussions are no joke, and good luck with the boat.

I've recently started wearing a helmet. I don't ride cable and my buddies give me some stuff about wearing it when we're riding boat, but I thought it might help prevent future concussions. I usually take at least a couple of slams to the head per set now that I'm trying (and failing at) 360s. On some falls, it seems to help a ton. But on others, it doesn't seem to do much to absorb the G-force of the hit and I can still feel my poor brain bouncing off the inside of my skull.

30 or 40 mintues into the your first set?? - thats huge - I've heard anything longer than a 15 minute set and your an injury just waiting to happen.

ditto what the others have said on the head injury - hope you come out of this one healthy.

last couple years we've had similar misfortunes - one year the wind blew me over my rope and I fired up the Moomba - ended up getting a tow to launch to take off the rope...

last year with our Malibu my buddy lunched the prop which he paid for...

This year we broke the spell - we've been out for the past 4 weekends and other than some cold A$$ weather - all has been good..

bummer on the scratch - that's a nice new boat so it'll be worth the effort... I've got a few that I've had to work out with the polishing compound..
Take care and get well - summer's just around the corner

hope the injury isn't too serious. That sounds like something I did last year attempting a 3....landed nose first into the water and couldn't remember my set, getting back in the boat after the wipeout, and about a half hour after. Just be careful, and get help if the symptoms continue. Hopefully things get better for ya!

Just a forewarning, if you want to get checked out you need to do it right after a head injury or they won't be able to tell how bad it was the day after. Also, if you don't plan on getting checked out and you feel that you got a concussion, read up on how to "treat" yourself afterwards. You shouldn't be wakeboarding for another month IIRC. A second trauma to your head even if it isn't bad can kill you if you don't wait.

Now that I've got my preaching out of the way (don't want you to get hurt), that sucks about the day man. It seems like everyone has those once in a while if you're a boat owner and they definitely suck.

On the happier side of things, you didn't mention a bent shaft, so that's a plus. Also, I didn't know you guys got a new boat! Looks like you got blue this time instead of yellow? What are you guys riding these days?

Bummer on the bad day. If you have good coverage on your insurance, put it through that and you can save some cost. Probably can get the scratch fixed and the prop fixed under the same claim.

Take care and be careful. Heed the others' advice on taking it easy so you don't cause yourself more problems later.

I'm not sure the walking in the room and forgetting thing is due to the concussion...I do that all the time and I've never had a concussion. Mr. Green

thanks guys
i got a acme 1433 prop ordered this morning, and my head is starting to feel better, it only hurts when i move it too fast/shake it (brushing teeth is the worse). but i never got the memory back of before or after the crash.
i didnt ride sunday, and will take it easy this weekend too im sure.

just have to work on that damn scratch now. pisses me off

HEBREW: i ride a R6 and always wear a full face, but i never understood how a helmet helps behind a boat?

Craig: im not on your level, but it was bad, when it shouldnt have been.

flat H20: we typically ride two 1 hour sets.

wakeboarder: thats what im hearing another concussion here soon could be really bad. i wont know about the bent shaft untill i get out there with a new prop. typically you cant see them bent. yes we got a new boat 2011 blue/black LSV. theres a thread in the boat section.

Andy: yeah im with you, i dont need anything thats gonna make my memory worse than it already is! Laughing Rolling Eyes

two- one hour sets behind the boat? - no breaks? - thats crazy- perhaps I'm not getting the big pic here but that is a long time behind the boat...

still focused on the head injury - take care of yourself bro- consider breaking the program up and switch riders...

check with the fellas from the Moomba forum - they have plenty of sound advice regarding repairing the scratch - shouldn't be a big deal with a bit of elbow grease and you'll have the Moomba shining like the day you purchased.... Laughing

I've taken monster sets too. What you don't realize is that if Stang is anything like me, you spend a lot of time falling learning a new trick and so most of that time is resting / pickup time. If we actually tried to ride hard for an hour without falling we wouldn't be able to do it. When I'm the last one in the water it's hard to get me out Wink

Two one hour sets? OMG, that's crazy. I guess you don't have a huge crew that you ride with. My friends would probably start throwing beers at me after 20 minutes. hahaha. I can't fathom how much gas you must be burning.

Sorry to hear. I will help you with the scratch. Wet sand the scratched area with some 1000 then some 1500. Use 3m compound part number(6060) after you get all the sand scratches out use some finesse it 2 compound. It will be in a white bottle sorry don't have the part number on me. Then fallow up with a swirl remover and and nice coat of wax. Your local paint store will have these. Best of luck

I had a 1433 sitting in my storage loft. Not even sure why I have it but it has been up there for over a year.

Everyone has a bad day at the lake but bad days on the lake still seem better than a day in the office to me.

gas aside, a 1 hour set!?! Unless I was out there on a hyperlite roam just carving around on butter I wouldn't even dream of a 30 minute set, let alone an hour!!! sounds like troulbe.

like the others said...take it easy and wait to recover fully! GL!!

Geez, that is awful.

I admit to being a puss on my sets. I am just learning, but if I go 15 minutes in a set, thats it. If I start to feel even the slightest bit of fatigue, I get in the boat. I try to hit my most difficult moves (which arent difficult since I am new) right from the start when I have the most muscle power.

I've road 45 mins one time and couldn't take another set for a long time.

To be honest, I wanted in the boat after 20 mins, but my buddy wouldn't pull close enought to let me back in MY OWN BOAT! He said, and I quote, "you ain't getting back in until you land that crow, biotch"
