Little old for CofC but my wife graduated from there about 15 Years ago and I do wakeboard. Have you been out to trophy lake wakefest? Last Saturday every month pretty good deal and you can get a little riding in as well. We went out Thursday at lime house and the channel was like glass |

I graduated from CofC in 2010. Unfortunately there isn't much of a wakeboard scene in Charleston. Weird, I know. Surrounded by water.
They're are a lot of kooks though. Including most anyone who rides at trophy lakes. That place is pretty pathetic for wakeboarding. The boat is direct drive, the "wakeboard lake" is WAY too shallow to get a decent wake, the wakeboard lake is less than a football field long, so you can really only get 2-3 tricks in. They don't put weight in the boat. The instructors are total n00bs. Maybe one or two guys on the staff are cool, but secretly they must hate the place. They shouldn't advertise for wakebaording, as its totally ski-centric, w/a seperate bigger lake and newer boat and better equipment etc for the skiers. The Wakeboard program there is only suitable for children and beginners basically.
There was a wakeboard club at CofC while I was there, but it was only in existence for 2 years due to mis-management. We had an x-45 which was nice, wake was kind of garbage compared to smaller boats of that price range but definitely usable.... unlike anything at trophy lakes.
In short, unless you have a high pain threshold for bad wakes and frat bros/idiots, take up surfing? Probably not much better, you'll get 10 good days a year at folly. maybe.
Hopefully you'll have better luck than my 4 years and find some hidden scene. But CofC took me from a guy who rode 3-4 times a week at home and competed in highschool to simply riding 3-4 times a year. _________________ "They misunderestimated me."-president bush

Oh! I just remembered, I think there are some real wakeboarders w/real boats on the wando river. I never saw it w/my own eyes, but I remember hearing about it.
