Ok. So for my first post i have quite a few questions. For a little background on my plans. I am living in brisbane australia and plan on in december/ january importing a wakeboard boat from the states. Personally i have never wakeboarded but did ski behing my brothers old boat and a) really want a nice inboard boat and b)want to learn how to wakeboard.
So now for the questions.
1. Timing- looking at december / january is this a good time to buy a boat. will there be plenty of choice and will the prices be lower.
2.Boat- I think from what i have read i want a mastercraft xstar or supra launch. with a budget of 25k purely for the boat(excluding shipping)
How late a year model with how many hours do you think i could get.
3.Shipping- has anyone had any experience with sending a boat to australia. i have a rough figure in my head for getting it over here for about 6k. I have heard wildly fluctuating prices from 3500 up to 3 times the value of the boat.
4.Brokers- Would you suggest i a) fly over myself to check out some boats
or b) engage a broker to do the hard work. I worry with a broker how expensive it could become. A company in brisbane is charging 52,900 or nearly 55,000 usd for a freshly imported 2003 mastercraft x2 with 290 hours. this i think is way over priced. Correct me if i am wrong.
5 Towers- Having only ever been on 1 boat with a tower, do most towers fold down? i have a large garage but a small opening.
Thanks in advance to anyione that answers the questions and with the right advice hopefully i can be the proud owner of a wakeboard boat by years end. |

I thought some aussies would chime in.
1. Yes
2. Go online and do a search on the boat-sites and craigslist, you'll get a pretty good idea.
3. It's been done plenty times so you'll need to find some aussies to get numbers. I know that on Planetnautique.com and correctcraftfan.com there's some folks with experience in this.
4. I had my boat shipped from Orlando to Costa Rica. Unseen, BUT I had it checked out by a Correct Craft dealer before I bought it. Didn't cost much and VERY worth it.
5. Yes most do. Not all though.
Good luck, 25K should get you a nice boat! _________________ FlyZone Wakeboarding Costa Rica |

2. I love my 2008 mastercraft x45
4. I bought it unseen off eBay for $50k w/ only 160 hours. Just need to do some searching.
5. Yes this tower folds but not all do. |

I've been boat browsing in the same price range. With the boats you are looking at in your range you would get a 2000-2003 depending on hours/condition. Check out onlyinboards.com Saw a nice 02 SAN for 25,500 http://www.onlyinboards.com/Details.aspx?ID=28162 _________________
