My good buddy at local parts store recommended I use "Wizards Metal Polish" similar to "Never Dull" but its twice as much for half the amount! Laughing
But this stuff works!
Lot of hard work, but it works great.

Cool. I use never dull or mothers...have always had good luck with either.

Can the aluminum be waxed after the polish to help prevent water spots?

well it says on the tin, "cleans, polishes, protects." but I still asked that question to my buddy and he said use the same wax on the alum as you do your boat. So I did. That pic is after the wax as well.
I'm sure hoping it lasts longer than 1 rain or one time out.
This I didn't know about drying the boat, he told me to not use a chamois because they pull the wax off the surface. Just a nice big clean terry cloth.

ryan351w, I hear ya. I hate water spots!

I go one step further on the drying. Wipe down right after loading back onto the trailer. Spray with Meguiar's Quick Detailer and wipe with a microfiber. Doing that you don't have a need to wash the boat and you clean and protect every time it comes out of the water.

At the beginning of the season and sometimes half way through, I put on two coats of a good quality wax. There is some amount of wax / protectant in the quick detailer. The good waxing, plus using that for a wipedown immediately after getting out of the water keeps the water spots away for the most part.

I do wax over it since I live close to beach and there is a lot of salt in the air. I figure the more layers of protection the less likely I have to pay to have all that stuff polished again. I haven't had any trouble with water spots but I usually wipe the bike down every time I take it out and when I get home if I was in the rain. So no real chance for water spots to get on there like on a boat.

So we are finally getting some spring weather here, and the rain has started. Three days after it stopped, went out there and wiped the spots right off!

good stuff!

Trying to track some of this stuff down. Do any of the big name auto parts stores carry it? Where did you get yours?

Poison, Not that I've seen. My parts store is one of "real" stores where you walk in and the guy behind the counter actually knows what he's talking about.

Funny story, my buddy went in to a Murrys or whatever they are called, to pick up a fuel filter. The lady asked him if he needed fluid after changing the filter..... Rolling Eyes

this is it for reference....

First chance to see how the polish plus wax worked. I had some water spots from the lake water that wiped off fairly well with a microfiber and Meguiar's Quick Detailer. We have pretty hard water here so it's always going to be a problem.

You use the quick detailer on the alum as well as the 'glass hull?

My dad sells boats at Bass Pro shops, and he sent me a pic of Wizards quick detailer that they use at the shop. Gonna try to find that stuff.
