So I finally got my boat up here in orlando. I have really been debating buying a new boat. Basically I found a 1999 Xstar with 194hours, looks clean from the pictures comes with tower, speakers, ballast, 330hp motor etc.. the dealer is asking $17,995

I currently own a 1994 Prostar 205 (direct drive) with tower and 1400! hours. Im wondering how much the dealer would give me for the boat if i was to purchase the xstar.

Anyone know about the downsides to the 99 Xstar? I love the hull and shape of the wake. I would probably remove the ballast and put in sacs for the rear and front.

So basically any info about the 1999 Xstar line would be appreciated.

The downsides of the 1999 Xstar vs. the 2001 Xstar are the tower, no wrap around seating, no tri-fold rear hatch, no bow filler cushion.

My friend just got the entire interior of his 1999 205v redone and updated to the current wrap around seating and tri fold hatch style of the newer x1's for $3k.

yea, coming from a DD im just dying to have a vdrive. Im not to worried about the interior, as it will be a major improvement from the direct drive layout. tri folding rear isnt a big deal. The tower not folding and being of the older design is kind of a bummer, but i can live with it.

So what about the price? They are asking $17,995 is that reasonable or room for negotiation?

Any clue how much they would give me for my boat?

I'm assuming you're talking about the one at Liquid Sports Marine. I saw it last year when I bought a boat from them. I can't comment on whether its a fair price or not, but the interior in that '99 Xstar needs some TLC. I remember the vinyl was torn in several places and it was missing a swim platform. I'm not sure how people got back into the boat without a swim platform.

If that boat is a consignment boat they probably won't take a trade for it. I'd call them and ask if they're even willing to take a trade on it first.

Yup that is the one. They said the interior needed $1200 in vinyl repairs, and that the owner is taking offers. So i would probably offer about 15,000 and get the vinyl repaired at a place that is not a dealer lol.

From the pics they sent me, it looked like the boat had the teak platform. So what your saying is that it's been forsale for over a yr?! wow that should give me some bargaining room, or there is something wrong with it. Did you test drive it?

I guess that's something you need to clarify with them. From this pic its missing the swim platform.

It has been listed for a while now. I don't know for sure how long its been listed but I looked at it around September last year. I was more interested in the '02 Xstar they have listed but then I found the perfect SANTE and bought it instead.

Sorry, I never test drove it.

Love the hull. Buddy has the 2000 Xstar with the same tower and the wrap around seating. The tower sucks!! He has all sorts of weld points where they've had to fix it.

If you can find a 2001 that fits your budget I'd go with that. At leas they had the better tower and all the ballast tanks that year.

If you don't mind the layout and the tower and the money is the deciding factor it will still be a great boat but for a couple of grand more you can get a slightly better boat.
